Funny how the cops in Ontario have noproblem fining a bunch of teenagers trying to create some community spirit,

and do zero to I don't know, busting up an illegal Indian protest.

Well done, cops fail again.

And this is why the cops are doing all this

http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2012 ... _says.html

They have been coming down hard and heavy every since. They did write out alot more than this one ticket. A couple hundred where for drinking...

No win situation if they don't do anything and there is an other riot the city will hang them out to dry but when they do do something the media does

Proof that we have too many police when they have time to do sh*t like this.

Proof that we have too many laws that are too open to selective enforcement.

"London Police’s annual Project LEARN was underway during the homecoming weekend"

Maybe they should have a year round effort to enforce the laws not just one weekend a year.

In a lot of university towns, things like homecoming week are loathed by the locals because too often it turns into a borderline drunken riot with bar/nightclub areas getting trashed by drunken students and alumni. It's practically a tradition in itself for places like the University of Michigan, for example. The police in Western probably over-reacted with the ticket for the cheerleaders. A warning probably would have sufficed. Then again give it a few hours of relentless alcohol and drug consumption by the attendees, and then the cops are also taking all the blame for some cars downtown getting overturned and and set on fire and all the storefront windows getting smashed out by shitfaced students/alumni who are either celebrating the football win or who are pissed off at the football loss.

Once again, cops can't win, no matter which course of action they do, or don't, take. :|

Totally ridiculous fine.
Talk about a police state.

Probably won't have much luck selling tickets to the Cops Ball.

"The police are your friends".
Yeah right.

From what the artical says the cop was just being an asshat. I kind of wonder if he was a supporter of the other team.

Public_Domain Public_Domain:
Well since the officer is a human, I'm sure he's more than capable of being a blithering idiot, as much as anyone else at least.

We shouldn't trust people that act like blithering idiots to be our police.

But the real problem is if the ticket is upheld in court as valid. Because what we really don't need are laws that are stupid, or judges that are blithering idiots.

I'm sure they do loathe it. But you know what? Living in a university town ain't all that bad. Suck it up for Frosh Week.
