I know what movie I'm renting tonight....

Highly entertaining movie! [B-o]

Some nations in Europe and Africa refused to show it in theatres calling it "dangerous, anti-communist propaganda" and in the US the National Coalition on Television Violence called it "the most violent film on record".

I think I'll throw it in the blue ray player and watch it again! PDT_Armataz_01_36

Does anyone in Canada honeslty care if Russia is pissed, we should be pissed that they have the balls to cross our airspace. Honestly I say our arctic soverenty is important enough to launch fighters for, if it comes to war so be it. You can't honestly tell me this was an accidental incedent, and the Russianss didn't know Obama was visiting.

Meanwhile,Their trying to retrofit some of their old icebreakers which are the biggest in the world and bring the old soviet bear's out and retrofitting them too so it is something to take notice of.

You should have stayed in Cuba a bit longer, just in case the commies took over, then you would be safe.

We might have as much to fear from those 50 year old bears as they have from our sub-hunting Sea Kings.

I don't think anyone is really afraid of the Russians. It's just a matter of asserting our sovereignty.

And we did. This is an old game that Norad has played since long before either of us was born.

Suddenly people are ramping up the rhetoric about war with Russia because of this.

Its a good thing our parents didn't act like this because I bet this happened a hell of a lot more often in the 50s on through to the 90s.

Just had a military expert on CTV from Calgary. He said the Russian's have been testing our reaction time and radar for the past two years. They want the northern resources, therefore they're testing us.

That's just people on this forum Derby. I'm not sure if you were alive in the 80's and 90's Derby but I was and I can tell you the rhetoric was stronger back then. By far.

Yes but as Ziggy has pointed out they can't just fly in and scoop them up. It would take a substantial effort to even break even getting those resources and a military presence greatly exceeding a few aircraft fly overs.

He knows just how difficult it is building roads and wells in that region. I suspect our reaction time for something like this would be of no real factor in trying to get them.

We could conceivably sit back and let them build the resource gathering infrastructure at great initial cost outlay while we built up a substantial defence force then simply kick them out of our country and help ourselves to the spoils.

I can recall a time when people thought war with Russia was inevitable. Thats where movies like Red Dawn came from.

The late 70s and early 80s had lots of great post nuclear war movies.

It didn't happen then and I see no reason why it would now. It would make far greater sense for all the arctic nations concerned to simply agree to divvy up the resources rather then fight a costly war over them with no guarantee of getting anything out of it.
