I wonder how many people here will say that the accident was ordered by Harper to justify the buying of the F-35.

That would be astoundingly paranoid.

In any case, I'm glad the pilot is okay and will live to drive an F35. [B-o]

In Quebec newspapers website, I've seen some comments saying that. The conspirationists are very active on the internet and their number are growing.

Glad the pilot made it out safely and no one on the ground was hurt.

From the pictures seen on other websites the right engine was out. You can see that the VEN (variable exhaust nozzle) on the right is closed while the left is open. Also there was only a fireball out of the left not the right on impact. It is good to see the new harness works, as we just upgraded from the old SCH (simplified combined harness). So now the pilot wears his parachute harness and straps into the parachute risers as appose to strapping into the harness. I hope the "High Alpha" maneuver does not get banned from this.

Not suprising, these nuts probably think 911 was an inside job as well.

During practice routines, the demo unit routinely carries about 35% more fuel than during the actual demo flight. Since the 18's are not 1:1 T2W a single engine at that AOA would not be sufficient to return to normal flight. Hence the stall to the right. Just glad the pilot road the Martin Baker roller coaster and got out.

Maybe they should've picked "Disco Inferno".

Definitely glad the pilot made it out without serious injury. Still kind of stunned since I'm a Lethbridgian myself.

Blatantly flown into a stall, F 18 is not a sukoy or a tupolov, its an outdated pile of crap and this one is really a pile of crap now. But what the heck, us tp's are good for it.

Someone made that very comment on the CBC website. Not a surprise.
