From the pictures seen on other websites the right engine was out. You can see that the VEN (variable exhaust nozzle) on the right is closed while the left is open. Also there was only a fireball out of the left not the right on impact. It is good to see the new harness works, as we just upgraded from the old SCH (simplified combined harness). So now the pilot wears his parachute harness and straps into the parachute risers as appose to strapping into the harness. I hope the "High Alpha" maneuver does not get banned from this.
During practice routines, the demo unit routinely carries about 35% more fuel than during the actual demo flight. Since the 18's are not 1:1 T2W a single engine at that AOA would not be sufficient to return to normal flight. Hence the stall to the right. Just glad the pilot road the Martin Baker roller coaster and got out.
