Absolutely no relevance between an ND and the case of Wilcox playing quick draw with his Browning. Again, nice reporting

$1:
If it's found to be an accidental discharge, Menard as a general officer, faces an automatic court martial with the possibility of a fine.
Thats gotta suck.

I agree, no segway or anything. Still, very sloppy form. Maybe he should just pack browning next time.

And it happened March 25???? If it would have been a Pte or Cpl who had the "accidental discharge", they would would have been charged, tried and convicted by now.
Investigate a malfunction my ass....

Ya and would have been fined what $150 bucks? Come on DVC I think the stakes are a little higher, also they have to inspect every rifle that is apart of an ND.

Should be nothing more than an administrative, summary trial.

The CBC site reported that fines for an ND were in the $10 range! I'd really like to know who gave them that number because it used to be anywhere from $1000-1500 a few years ago.

Mr. Menard is looking at a promotion to civilian employment.

He's a General...probably never fires a weapon more than a few times a year. I'm surpised they're even allowed to carry arms at all.

Well the rifle was found to be functioning properly. I wonder what his fine will be? After all, he sets the standard. The current run of fines are financially painful for a trooploop. I wonder how much would be painful for a General...

Doesn't each general negotiate their pay individually?

IIRC yes they do. At least they did a while ago.
FWIW, I'd like to think the fine would be in the same porportion (percentage of monthly pay) as it is for a Pte. Otherwise it's pretty much a pittance for him while it's serious pain for a troop.
