Well lets start with the complete rampant corruption of Karzai and his government. They certainly didn't bring him in knowing this did they? Second lets look at our so called allies in the war. The boy raping warlords, you know the ones you never seem to speak out against. The public expected us to put an end to all of this kind of stuff and not simply decry taliban atrocities while silently condoning this lest we end up fighting on yet another front. The third thing would be the seemingly lack of interest or ability in the afghan police/security force coupled with their own corruption. The public expected we would be welcomed as liberators and heroes (just like Iraq) and as that hasn't materialized they are asking why. The fourth thing would be something you yourself has bitched on and on about and that that's the unequal distribution of war effort among the NATO countries. In the beginning I doubt very much people were thinking much lest saying that the war would be fought really by only a few countries with the rest sitting in safe areas playing cards. That has soured people as well.

Nobody expected this to last as long as it did (expect the people who said we should read history first) and its only natural that people and perceptions change. As for your continued claims that the Liberals are waffling or changing well for that its easily busted by simply pointing out their leadership has changed and each new leader has their own opinion.
