Christmas was originally a pagan celebration to bring back the sun, hence the lights on the christmas tree. Pagans used to set the trees on fire.

The Romans weren't stupid. When the Roman Empire officially converted to Christianity in the 300s, they just rededicated their current official 'pagan' holidays to the new crowd of divinities and saints. Of course Christ got the two most important holidays, Spring Equinox(being able to trace Passover dates also helped to set this time as well) and Winter Solstice, in the Roman calendar.

The fact that December 25th isn't the true date of Christ's birth hasn't been disputed for along time, and only by those nutballs who hold to the earth being thousands of years old. All the evidence from the writings point towards the lambing season, which was late spring or early summer.

Christianity has adopted and adapted many traditions from other religious and cultural groups. What we call Christianity today is a long from, and is largely unrecognizable, from its Judaic roots. Jewish Monotheism has been replaced by a quasi-polytheism, thanks largely to the early Greek and Roman influences.

Great! We have “his” birthday.

Now prove to me he actually existed and isn’t a myth formed by a cult of breakaway Jews. Tom Harper probably makes more sense as time goes by. He virtually proves the whole Christ story came from the ancient Egyptians with the story about Horus (sp?).

If anyone accepts the “birth date” as fact, you can also believe that someone will find an Archie comic in a thousand years that will create yet another religion.

I guess that explains all the arson in California this past year.
