A Canadian has assumed the rotating command of NATO's force in southern Afghanistan.

Maj.-Gen. Marc Lessard took the helm of Regional Command South in a ceremony at Kandahar Air Field on Saturday morning.

just read this in the paper... I digress... we might win now... but only have 9 months to do it...

kenmore kenmore:
well I suppose puggyplug you proabably didnt go that far in school to understand the written word.. at no time did I state that there was oil in afghanistan... might be but I didnt say so.. what I said .... for those who need it spelled out is...this war and both the Gulf war started by big daddy bush and the Iraq war started by george wya..was about oil.. the reason we are fighting in afghanistan is a hold over from both..meaning that it is a so called war on terrorism... and bush was after Osama..and where does he hang out? well they think afghanistan and Pakistan... comprenez-vous ?

Still denying what old chap.....

How in fiddlesticks you can tie the Afghan conflict with an oily bush defeats all Plato logic.

Afghanistan and it's problems are worlds apart from Iraq.

For the record I believe the Iraq war was/is a big mistake...the Afganistan war no mistake.

an excerpt...Chossudovsky calls it a complete fabrication "based on the illusion that one man, Osama bin Laden (from a cave in Afghanistan and hospital bed in Pakistan) outwitted the $40 billion-a-year American intelligence apparatus." He calls it, instead, what, in fact, it is - a pretext for permanent "New World Order" wars of conquest serving the interests of Wall Street and the financial community, the US military-industrial complex, Big Oil, and all other corporate interests profiting hugely from a massive scheme harming the public interest, in the name of protecting it, and potentially all humanity unless it's stopped in time.

This explains much. Too many ultra lefty buzz words from the 60's........

They superficially appeared to have a viable theory until their utopia, the USSR imploded....

Now Kenmore and this Chossudovsky just sound ridiculous.

The book was written post 911 and has many many valid points and speaking of the 60s it describes Nixon's quest for the liquid gold... this whole world wide mess is the creation of Uncle Sam.....
so therefore I say Les faites sont fait..

So what Al Gore wrote a book or to as well----which you seem to rely upon for your world view.

Adolf Hitler wrote a book.

Just because some-one authors a book does not make him a Thomas Aquinas......

sastwatch.. plenty of people write books.. the research and authentication of this book is worth note.. there are many people who believe that these wars were the creation of the US... your opinions are just that and mine are mine.. I have the book ..have read it and many journal articles on the subject.. I have the capacity to take in the information and validate it and decide to believe it or not... I believe it.. you however from your previous posts have limited ability and knowledge to make an educated opinion... and your support of war is an indication of an inate aggression.. I suggest you sign up for paint ball....enough said...

I loath paintball......for the same reason I object to human silhouette targets.

Kenmore

Bad interpretation. I have been involved in enough war---declared and otherwise, to not be a fan of war for war's sake. I just happen to support this war. I spent quite a time in Afghanistan, during the soviet occupation and as a result thoroughly know the ground and the people......I have a founded opinion.

That does not mean that I didn't applaud the US initial entry into Baghdad----the biggest drive-by in history------on camera over "Comical Ali's" shoulder---as he announced that US forces were hundreds of mile away-------

Being in Afghanistan has noting to do with Oil or a pipeline as that's just another Conspiracy Theory Bullshit used to push forward more Anti-American Rants..

It's beyond hypocrisy how the NDP and Layton bitch and moan about Human Rights but don't seem to give a shit about the Human Rights Canada and NATO are trying to bring to Afghanistan, they would rather see the Taliban back in Power publicly executing women..

The NDP also shut up about their plan to send Canadian troops to Darfur too.
What I find funny is that all of Canada's left are demanding we leave while they are demanding other NATO countries take over. Another classic example of doing what I say but not what I do.
