It would be downright frightening. Holding the SAS I mean. I would not like to be the ones guarding them, or any special forces for that matter.

I think their "captors" treated them very carefully...

Ah, the British government....

Once again sticking it's fingers in dirty assholes, hoping to reshape lower bowel movements.

I'm sure glad the British people will approve of this...

oh, wait.

Step back from that conclusion you jumped to.

A Sabre team sent to get diplomats out is no different from what everybody else is doing in that pretend country of Libya that is breaking up.

Or should the Brits let their diplomats catch a bus home?

Head shake required Sock. Sometimes you’re hidden agenda exposes it's 'dirty asshole'.

The SAS was escorting British diplomats to meet with rebel leaders.

My conclusion is, the British are attempting to contact an illegitimate government entity.

Libya is in a state of Civil War, they've chosen their sides prematurely.

*Disclaimer: I don't support Gaddafi.

I can't argue with you on military matters, but judging from the news reports, (and they have been wrong plenty of times), it was an attempt of senior British diplomats to contact rebel leaders in Benzhagi (sp?).

IMO, this amounts to more meddling. I would have hoped the British, and hopefully Americans, have learned their lessons when it comes to meddling in foreign affairs.

Let the bulldogs fight under the rug, and then work with the winner, don't jump under the rug with them.

If you are right I agree with you but personally I can't see it. Libya and the UK, well it's always been problematic. It makes Afghanistan look simple.

Me, a six man team. Rescue or a hit.

I dunno, it's a reasonable group to use to approach the rebel groups to see if they need assistance. They didn't, fine, no harm in asking.

IMHO this is nothing but the media spinning it for sales.

Yea, the BBC are no friend of the UK military. Been there and got that t-shirt.

Mmm, too high profile. They would send some RMP close protection guys for that.

Using the tip of the spear for jobs means something is on the go. I'm sticking with rescue/hit.
