I don't think the questioning is out of line. People are interested to know who the terrorist was arguing with at the party, and what caused him to shoot up the workplace instead of enacting what seems to be a larger plan. The truth is, whoever set him off at the party may have actually saved lives since it is apparent that the 2 were planning a bigger attack.

I don't think anyone is idiotic enough to place the blame on the people who might have pissed him off. People just want details.
