I'm not "all over the map". The problem is you don't get it. Political opponents will try to blow everything up, twist every good thing to appear bad, make every small issue appear big. That's what you're doing.
Donald Trump's policies mean the United States is no longer a safe third country. Period. The Maher Arar case occurred while George W. Bush was president; that case calls into question how safe the US is. But with Trump threatening to deport refugees back to where they came from, regardless of consequences, that means the US is not safe. But if Canada were to officially remove the US from that list, it would create diplomatic issues with the US. And many of Canada's allies criticize Trump, celebrate Trudeau is the cure for Trump. Retaining that support means actively going against Trump, but that has to be done in such a way that relations with the US don't blow up. Think of it as real life "Game of Thrones".
Meanwhile, Trudeau and his Liberals want to be seen as supporting civil servants. Even though many hate the bureaucracy, he wants civil servants to obey his orders, and wants civil servants to vote Liberal. So made a show of saying they have to follow the process.
Meanwhile, some voters are afraid of criminals sneaking in. So he made a show of saying all refugee claimants will be vetted. Those who don't pass the vetting, will be required to leave.
So people are taking him up on his offer. As long as they are able to speak one of the official languages of Canada with intermediate or better proficiency, as long as they can get a job, as long as they aren't criminals, then let them come!

Those aren't the qualifications for asylum.

Vast majority of Canadians want focus on border security, poll says$1: The numbers are in and Canadians of all stripes have problems with how the Liberals have been handling the latest flare up of our border fiasco.
A whopping 82% of Canadians think assigning police and immigration officers to monitor and secure the border is “a major priority,” according to the Angus Reid Institute.
Only 47% of respondents agreed that getting new arrivals safely into Canada and set up with benefits was an important issue. If forced to choose between the two options, 70% pick border security over providing assistance.
The online poll, conducted Aug. 22-25, heard from a large sampling of 1,505 Canadians.
It’s a stinging indictment on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s handling of the whole file. He’s the one who sounded the open borders message over social media, with his #WelcomeToCanada virtue-signalling repeated around the world, from stories in The New York Times to messaging apps used by migrant communities.
He’s refused to clearly state that people shouldn’t be illegally crossing into Canada and can’t even bring himself to use the very word “illegal.” Instead, the Liberals have focused on how to handle the influx of migrants — meeting with the provinces to discuss how to house people and provide them with benefits like dental care. http://www.torontosun.com/2017/09/01/va ... -poll-says

Yeah, yeah and what do they want 'border security' to do? Huh? Asides from those stupid enough to think they can or should stand in lines like a riot squad and stop people from crossing?

Again, go try to jump the border in the other direction. Report back to us. Whatever the Americans are doing that's what we should do. Oh and one more time - don't drop the soap.

Winnipegger Winnipegger: The topic is about border jumpers. I'm saying this is why Trudeau Liberals are allowing them in. It sounds like you're saying Trudeau wants the third world dysfunctionals who can't make it there to jump the border into Canada. That does appear to be the case, but you appear to be saying he wants this for some sort of "skilled worker" talents you think these illegal border jumpers might possess and for that he's willing to overlook any negatives they might also bring along. Surely you're not saying that, because that would be insane. So far all we know about them is they're willing to break the law.

Sluurrrrrrppppppp!!!! Sounds like your last brain cell, falling out of your ass. Your complete inability to debate anything these days is kind of sad. 10,000 now, are you happy to let more come ?

herbie herbie: Yeah, yeah and what do they want 'border security' to do? Huh? I am not going to pretend to be reading/reporting the minds of every single Canadian but I would like to offer 1 suggestion: I want "border security" guards to publicly identify WHO is engaging in this human trafficking. If they can not do that, I want them all to quit and get real jobs.

Kinda funny to watch this topic and see the leftish types making pretty much the same arguments on immigration that President Trump is making down here. ![Eating Popcorn [popcorn]](./images/smilies/popcorn.gif)

Hey Justin! Did you hear about the hurricane? We're here to accept your invitation. We can be refugees now too...from the Bahamas. We're hearing diversity is your strength. All donations accepted with a grin. http://barrie.ctvnews.ca/family-arrives ... -1.3581810
