Argo was a good movie, yeah it told the American side of the crisis and sure Affleck could have dealt more in depth with Canada's role but it was his prerogative to tell the story how he saw it and he did thank Canada after winning the Oscar. Instead of Canadians continuing to bitch and whine get funding from the CBC and make a movie tellng the Canadian side with the usual CBC Anti- American spin staring Honey Boo Boo.

Gunnair Gunnair: Having one of those pietistic moments, I see. Interesting this need of yours....to establish your credentials on the forum as the go-to fella for spelling. You're still feeling the after-effects of last night. Things still seem way larger than life. With tinges of denial, paranoia and projection (ascribing one's own thoughts and feelings to another, Freudian). By all means, let's move on, when you're ready. And before you lose your bet.

Sorry, the sad attempts at foisting your attributes onto others falls flat once again. And I'm in no danger of losing a bet over you, friend. That being said, the bet is a fascinating thing in its careful exercise of thoughtful decorum and polite pokey-chest. Care to join it?

Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy: Okay. Since we're talking about movies based on true stories.....who here recommended the movie. "Iron Sky"?... please allow me to point out that this movie, much like "Argo" was actually based on a true story. Much better than my cowboys and Indians example of "based on a true story". It's got Nazis and secret projects in it. Everybody knows those existed. I've had this movie ready for viewing for months now, and have never quite brought myself to watch it because I had a feeling it would be as bad as you describe.

Gunnair Gunnair: Care to join it? No, I don't believe in "thoughtful decorum" (now there's an interesting interpretation) and self-abuse.

Sounds like a good point at which to "move on".

Damn I forgot about how historically accurate cowboys and aliens was. But to be honest that movie pales in comparison to the soon to be Classic Iron Sky both in historical accuracy and pure academy award winning acting. So, be prepared for the thrill of a lifetime when you summon up the courage to put this soon to be classsic onto you're TV screen. And, for the record I still consider it as historically accurate as ARGO fuck yourself Ben Affleck..

Iron Sky must be the most technically stupid movie of all time. Pseudo Nazi soldiers wearing modified gas masks and greatcoats in a vacuum. Me and Mrs Rug spent 90 mins laughing our socks off.

Well I took the plunge and watched "Argo" last night.
I'll eat some crow. Entertainment-wise it was a good movie and the Canadians got more credit than is apparent from the negative reactions.
I noted one part in particular where one of the characters said (paraphrase), "They were turned away by the Kiwis and the Brits. The Canadians took them in."
If you haven't seen it, Old Guy, give it a try.
