Dutch:
three: drie fifty three: drieënvijftig
Hell I could understand how somebody could do the same in english. Miscommunications do happen.

Hehehehe Sweet but... its drie, and zesenvijfig... Don't tattoo-artists use a stencil though? And show you beforehand what it is going to be like-ish? I gotta admit though, it's "just stars" in this case, piece of cake. Then again, it's in the face, and she is young... He shouldn't have done it at all, without her written consent. I think he is doing a good job offering to pay half the laser treatment.

Update: She was speaking english and french. $1: She claimed the Toumanaintz misunderstood her French and English.
She claims she fell asleep while he was doing his work... and awoke to 'this nightmare'.
'It is terrible for me,' said Kimberley yesterday. 'I cannot go out on to the street, I am so embarrassed. I just look horrible.'
'I think he didn’t understand what I wanted. He spoke only fractured English and French.
'But I explicitly said in my native tongue, French, and also in a little bit of English when he looked confused, that I wanted three little stars only near my left eye.' If he was only a dutch speaker and her only an english & french speaker then a miscommunication is certainly a viable reason isn't it? No malfeasance on either side but just a mistake seems reasonable.

Possible perhaps, but it's more likely that a girl made a stupid mistake than it just so happening that "three stars around my eye" got translated to "56 stars across the whole side of my face" and she fell asleep during the tattooing of 53 of the stars and didn't wake up.

you're translations were right, 3= drie, 53 = drieenvijftig, but, it is supposed to be drie and 56=zesenvijftig. I agree though that when you have a business in Belguim, you should speak Dutch and French. Especially in the French part, you should speak French. If he had used a stencil, there would not have been a problem. Who's right here? I don't think we will ever know... I wonder what language he spoke... Croatian?

He's Romanian.. a Romance language similar to Italian.
not much chance to mistake 3 for 56.
Romanian 3... trei
methinks the girl is full of it.

How can you fall asleep when someone is poking a needle into face?
What moron wants a tattoo on the face anyway?
Was this something done to piss of dad and her boyfiend?

Seems a lot of people here think there is no possible way that you could mistake 3 from 56 but the truth is that it is very easy and very common to make mistakes like that even between 2 perfectly lingual people speaking the same language. That will be 156 dollars please? 56? No, one hundred and fifty six. How many times have you asked someone speaking english or dutch to repeat themselves? Sorry but I think thats what happened here. I don't think she got home and made up this story because she was afraid of what daddy was going to say. People afraid of their parents don't get tattoos on their face generally speaking because even 3 stars would be enough if her father was going to go ballistic.

Was this something done to piss of dad and her boyfiend? Apparently it is fairly common. Do you often close your eyes getting a hair cut? I do especially when they are cutting around my eyes. The girl closes her eyes and the TA goes about his work. He is working near her eyes so its likely that even fully awake she will shut her eyes and if she passes out then he might not realize. Seems to me people are being a little quick to say "that could never happen".

No, but it could very well be her own realization that it was a bad mistake - the 'daddy' thing was only brought up in this thread.

I just can't see any reason why she'd knowingly ask for 56 tattoos without even thinking what it would look like. Buyers remorse being a perfectly undestandable emotional response but doesn't necessarily mean she will lie and claim she never wanted it in the first place. Myself I think it was an honest mistake and his offer to pay for half the removal seems reasonable.

This is from the story: $1: The trouble all started when she went home and her father and boyfriend threw a fit.

Buyers remorse being a perfectly undestandable emotional doesn't necessarily mean she will lie and claim she never wanted it in the first place. Conversely, you see some reason why a professional tattoo artist would tattoo 56 stars all over the face of a young girl without being absolutely certain that's what she wanted, and that he's lying about her consent now. Brenda Brenda: Ah, no... This is from the story: $1: The trouble all started when she went home and her father and boyfriend threw a fit. Ah, I missed that - even more reason to suggest she's changing the story - why would she get all the way home before she decided to complain about it?

No. I said I see no reason why it isn't a mistake. She was certain she asked for 3 and he was certain she asked for 56.
