MrC, its politically incorrect to call a Ferry 'pretty disgusting'. You should try to be more tolerant of those kind of people.

Unicornlord Unicornlord: Geee I wonder why, over $100 bucks for a car and driver to the island.... When I was living on the Island, I only took a car across twice during an eight year period, the rest of the time it was walk on. I was just as happy to stay there when I was home, as I did a fair bit of travelling while serving and while attending university. When I was a kid, my grandparents(who lived in Abbotsford) or my aunt and uncle who lived in Burnaby, would pick us up.

ASLplease ASLplease: Shep, does walk on have a fee attached to it? Oh yes, there are no freebies with BC Ferries. Its about $14 to walk on one way. If you think its expensive to just take your car, you should try pulling a trailer. It costs me a minimum of $200 each way for my pickup and trailer. Criminal.

5 cents to walk on the Halifax-Dartmouth ferry... ... but that was 50 years ago. I just Googled it and it's still only $2.25 for an adult.

Well the Seabus, in off peak hours is only $2.50 too. They built a causeway to the 140,000 people of that joke of a province PEI, they should build one between the 750,000 on Vancouver Island as well.

It is currently the most expensive toll bridge in North America by a wide margin. EDIT: the fare is only for vehicules leaving PEI.

Was anyone ever sued over that BC ferry crash where the captain was screwing when it ran a ground?

I think there is something fundamentally wrong with stopping someone from leaving a province with a vehicle when the vehicle was free to bring into the province.

ASLplease ASLplease: Thats true, I've always thought that was wrong. I dont think you have the right to stop someone from leaving a province with a vehicle when the vehicle was free to bring into the province. It's to simplify collection, I guess... and it saves them money. Easier and cheaper to collect 42.50$ once than 21.25$ twice. You can checkout any time you like, But you can never leave!
