Yep, immigration is great. Unless it affects you directly.

Funny how you direct that at me, when it's Martin who made the comment. And my guess is you agree with him. If saying we're full and immigrants should move to other parts of Canada is racist, then you're a hypocritical racist. Must be nice, sitting in white bread Victoria, patting yourself on the back for your tolerance, but "keep those people over there."

Nerve... struck. Sucks to be pegged in front of a crowd.

Or he's just jealous. ;)

Vancouver:
Total Population 578,041 100.0%
Aboriginal Population 11,140 1.9%
Visible Minority Population 291,740 50.5%

Victoria

Total Population 78,057 100.0
Aboriginal Population 2,835 3.6
Visible Minority Population 9,130 11.7

Which city is more accepting of "brown people?"

Yep, you nailed it. Victoria has a smaller percentage of visible minorities because whitey hates the brown man on the Island.

ROTFL

Those are the logical equivalents of cliff diving that keep you in the lower income sphere, Andy. Continue to enjoy being on the low end of the 99%.

No, I've nailed it that you're perfectly happy calling someone from a city that gets all the immigration racist for saying we're full, while you live in white-bread ville and don't want things to change. Hypocrite and racist.

 What a tantrum you're having here.

Andy, you can try and fling that, but it is so weak, that it'll only stick in the minds of bigots like yourself desperately trying to find someone else to join them in the mud.

Sorry, man, my feet are clean.

For all you bridge proponents the idea's been mulled over to death and there are numerous studies that have pointed out the flaws to building a bridge with the biggest one being, that we live in a highly unstable earthquake zone which would likely turn a bridge or tunnel into scrap. 8O

Here's a Ministry of Transportation and Infastructure web page that shows some of the proposed routes and potential problems to this grand idea.

http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/Publications/re ... d_link.htm

So despite the wants of certain lower mainland denizens to turn Vancouver Island into their own personal low cost housing alternative complete with a short, fixed link commute to that hell they call Vancouver, I've go bad news for them.

It isn't gonna happen in their lifetime.

Thank God.

Canadian_Mind Canadian_Mind:
Considering the Island is already at the brink of 1 million people without a land link... 8O

I like the idea of the ferry service, if nothing else it is a novelty. But because it is such a necessity, it shouldn't be a privatized group.

I'm living on an island only a pube larger, and there are 23 million on it ....even then, 6/7 of the island is unpopulated because it's covered with forest and mountains

I come from a country smaller than Vancouver Island, 16 million people and a lot of farm land...

I always chuckle when the Taiwanese, who visit Europe, comment on the wide open spaces. Then I explain that's why most of us(North Americans) left Europe, because there weren't any.....well that and the internecine genocidal wars, religious hatred and oppressive governments...for the mainland Europeans that is

 Wow, Andy, your absolute desperation is showing again. Maybe you just should avoid your anti immigrant rants for a bit if you want to portray yourself as man of 'all' the people and not just the white ones.

Is it just me or does anyone else think it would be more feasible for a fixed link from Victoria to Washington state? There is a series of close-in-proximity islands going from Victoria northeast to Bellingham, WA. And that's a short jaunt up the I-5 to Vancouver.

If the bridge/tunnel started up towards Sidney, BC it would be even closer.

I wonder if that route has ever been studied.

Ain't going to happen. It's a travesty just to watch them try and replace the Blue Bridge here in Victoria. Putting in a fixed link so Andy's dream of al the brown fellers leaving Metro Vamcouver to live in the sticks just ain't going to happen.

Sorry, Andy, you'll have to move to Williams Lake or 100 Mile House to get away from all those Asians you don't like.
