Because you cant bring people back from the dead. What is the ratio of acceptable innovcent/guilty deaths...

Here's the thing...kill the 100% no doubt cases...the ones in which there is doubt then put them in prison...with no tv and crap food and so on. I'm all for chain gangs again. There is a lot of work that needs to be done and people can't be found to do it. Make those f'ers do it.

Well what are those no doubt cases? The ones where Charles Smith testified that pathology proved they were guilty, only it turns out they weren't? How about Pickton - are you really 100% sure that he did it? I'm not. Most likely he disposed of the bodies, but most likely there were other people involved. Or he may just be an innocent dupe altogether. So we've got Clifford Olsen (he showed police where the bodies were) and Paul Bernardo (video tape) Not too many others. In the US, a man spent years on death row for raping a woman, because she positively identified him. When it finally got around to a DNA test, not so much. Guess what color the "perp" and victim were?

I fully support killing this man btw. But I would not want to be part of a society that accidently killed an innocent man.

and lately we've seen more than a handful of innocent people let out of jail. Agreed some of them were dirt bags...but one wrong death is one too many.

If that happened to my daughter, I would find a way to make sure that man ceased living...would your execute me for that? And i guess that would be a double standard on my part.

Yup, double standard. Especially if it turns out you killed the wrong man. And, of course killing this guy won't heal you daughter either. But, I understand the sentiment. I once thought a friend's gf was raped, and I was ready to kill who ever did it, till it all turned out to be bullshit. But boy, the rage that comes up - "must defend our women" ooga booga, very primal.
