Disney executives - "how about "Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs Magical Pride Parade Participants" instead? Holy shit, that title for the film would tick off at least nine out of ten boxes on our corporate ESG checklist! Book 'em, Danno, no matter how much money this pile of shit is going to lose for us!". Ah well, the dwarf actors & body doubles losing some the few jobs they're perfectly suited for is a sacrifice we're more than willing to make in order to be on The Right Side Of History!

Too bad also that Peter Dinklage turned out to be such self-righteous prick.





PS: before you start cheering for Disney' stunning woke bravery keep in mind that they're also the company that does things like apologizing to China (thank you very much for that display of obsequious cowardice, John Cena), and that pretty much every kid actor who ever worked for them was so brutalized, traumatized, and messed up by the experience that they turned out to be a drunk or a drug addict.

Not this time. Controversy creates attention but it doesn't always create profit, as Bud Light found out when they fucked around. Disney's getting got but good (their park revenue in both Florida and Anaheim has cratered this year) because their executive suite is full of insane ideological people who apparently don't understand that engaging in stupid polarizing things that threaten the company's financial security isn't something a responsible corporate leadership group should be doing.

Or, people don't want to go a state run by a fascist and populated with psychos.

Florida's summer seems to be going no worse than usual, the occasional performative convention cancellation notwithstanding. As for Disney? The best thing that will happen for them this year will be if another kid doesn't get eaten by an alligator. And Florida's still loading up on refugees from California anyway, driven out by either the high cost of living or by parents not wanting their kids to live in a place where the sidewalks are literally covered in human shit, so by the end of it all their bottom line will end up no worse for wear.

Keep in mind one thing that Kevin O'Leary, who I have absolutely no love or admiration for at all, said recently that is entirely true in business. When the corporate executive team or controlling shareholders decide to take a polarizing position in a polarized world the only thing they're guaranteeing for their bottom line is that they're going to lose up to 100% of at least half of their customers in a backlash to their decision. It's all just basic physics at work on a cultural & social level - each and every action will result in an equal (or even greater) opposite reaction. And it's even more true in a world like this one where over the last ten years the already dwindling middle ground got nuked by both sides and reduced to ashes.

I have a feeling that in 200 years the only humans that still exist will be some dying-out packs of cannibals hunting each other for food up in places like the northern tip of Greenland or Ellesmere Island and that they all have to lick moisture off of rocks as their only source of fresh water. And that everything south of the 70th parallel or so will be a lifeless heat-blasted wasteland surrounded by a brackish ocean much too poisonous for anything to live in anymore. In other words it'll be bad enough to make Cormac McCarthy's The Road look like a positive & happy tale about rediscovering Eden in comparison.

Way to go, humanity, you'll finally get what you truly deserve.

I imagine it’ll be more like the movie Elysium. The richest of the rich will live in their fortified enclaves free from the consequences of their raping and pillaging of the earth resources and peoples wealth. Heavily guarded to protect them from what’s left of humanity breaking down the walls and wreaking the vengeance that’s due.

Whatever or however it happens one thing will be revealed as truth when the end times arrive - a natural force of pitiless destruction is indistinguishable from an existential justice unencumbered by the attachments of mercy.
