The ethnic unrest in China is a very big problem and their definately not handling it well. Sometimes a heavy hand just makes it worst.

No big surprise here. China only signed on the Dubya's war on terror in return for carte blanche in Xinjiang province. They've been targets for a long time, but if Al-Qaeda thinks the Chinese government won't seriously fuck them up, Al-Qaeda isn't thinking clearly. Redneck Americans may have come up with the "Kill'em all and let God sort 'em out" but the Chinese actually do it.

I'm not justifying it in any way shape or form, but the Communist Party is not one that can be terrorized by a few thousand Muslim terrorists.

For that, it takes 300 million peasants.

Indeed, when their own government is willing to crush their own people with tanks, how can a simple terrorist organization frighten them.

China is not going to be the pushover panzies that the Americans are. They will hunted till the end ends of the earth and if they are lucky will have their throuts cut imediatly.

If they have the misfortune to be taken prisoner it would be the not be the club Med treatment that their comrades get at GITMO.

I wish them all misfortune.

The Chinese Military has always concerned me, agreed, if Al-Qaeda think that they can defeat China, they had better bring some more fighter to deal with China's 7 million person armed service. Al-Qaeda is going to get their teeth kicked in (and then they are going to get shot in the head)

Frankly, China is as constrained in what they can do as any other country. Attacks within China will result in a lot of people (innocent or not) suffering the consequences. Outside of China, what can they do that isn’t being done already? They won’t be given a free hand by the US or Russia.

Insurgency and terrorism is not something that can be stopped if the individuals are determined enough. Ie: Iraq, Afghanistan, Ireland….. Welcome to the 21st century version of war.

Well, to toss in my two cents here...

If China truly suffers their version of 9-11, in say Hong Kong, or Beijing, or somewhere else, they will be much more...forceful against Muslims. This can be good or bad.

When people are talking about America's War on Terror, the reason why America's response is so "constrained" is because of us. The media isn't as controlled as it used to be in WWII, and after the Vietnam War, the American media can basically report anything. Collateral damage, soldier deaths, enemy advances, so on and so forth, are reported and broadcast to the American populace. This leads to popular opinion against the war, and thus political pressure.

China, of course, lacks this. On top of this, the tactics the Americans use and are considered extreme, like Gitmo, are everyday life in China. So basically, if they hear that Muslim POWs are getting sent to be tortured, most will shrug, while some people here shit their pants and begin howling at anyone that will listen to them.

Also. The only people who might bitch at China for going extreme on them will be the European Union. And China won't give a fuck. Russia won't say a thing, as long as arms purchases continue, and the American government will pretend nothing is happening. Maybe say something mean in Congress about it. That's about it. Why? Because global interests matter more than some human rights in some countries. As long as they keep it out of the news, nobody cares (sad fact, but a fact, nonetheless)

Anyway. That's my opinion. If AQ is stupid enough to attack China, well, maybe they're more stupid than I made them out to be.

What the Russians did in Chechnya will look like a daycare in comparison to what China'll do to the Uighurs if Al Qaeda does a 9/11 on Chinese soil. Unlike the post-WW2 Americans and Europeans, the Chinese are quite well aware that sometimes you have to go Roman on fanatics when they declare war on you. I don't like cheering for Communists (or post-Communist authoritarian capitalists, or whatever the hell the Chinese refer to themselves as these days) but I'd rather have the old system of having to tolerate and share the world with semi-rational Marxists instead of this awful NWO where we have to constantly worry about every religious nutcase out there who're trying to get their hands on atomic weaponry.

China uses tactics like Gitmo everyday? You need to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh.

You make it sound out like everyone is in prison. I've visited China several times (most recently last fall) and it's much like here believe it or not, excepting of course the language and pollution. There aren't jackbooted secret police lurking at every corner or female spies waiting to lure innocent tourists into hotel rooms in an effort to blackmail them into giving up industrial secrets.

The streets are full of everyday people on vacation, shopping, living, and working. Those who can afford them; drive nice cars, wear nice clothes and eat at good restaurants, then go back to condos that are every bit as nice as ones here. Even 'poor' people live in pretty decent apartments and eat rather well (far better than most of the 3rd World). Health care, like the US, is mostly private and rather expensive. The people in China who have it bad, like the West, are the very poor and low-skilled workers. They wind up migrating from one part of China to another in search of work, be it construction, agriculture or in a sweatshop.

About the only accurate things in your anti-China tirade are that they lack freedom of speech and that China will crush AQ if they try anything.

I doubt even the EU would say boo to China, simply because, much like North America, they rely on them for all manner of production and consumer goods, as well as being a huge market that their companies have penetrated even better than US ones (generally).

Do you guys not have a Bu77S3it button that you can use on the people that post blatant lies ?

$1:
Redneck Americans may have come up with the "Kill'em all and let God sort 'em out" but the Chinese actually do it.

Do a little research, you're posting a lie.

Damn.

I have lots of industrial secrets, honest! Well, hopefully the things I hear about Marrakesh are true.
