The CBC is using some new record put together by the EU.
It's not far out of line though.
The Satellite Temps for the last 39 years from UAH say third warmest.
But the graph from the satellites suggests something a little different than what the Chicken Littles at CBC and the EU are pulling their hair out over.

So that one shows about a degree of global temperature rise from 1978 to 1998.
After that, it's like two goal posts of temp rise are at 1998 and 2016. These were the years of two super El Ninos - which are freaks of ocean confluences of natural forces. Between those two natural occurrences, temps look to more or less level out. The year following 2016 there is a dip in global temps.
All of which replies to CBC/EU hysteria with a big, fat, "So what?"
