I thought both occupants ejected from the plane? The initial news reports stated that one landed on the roof of a house, the other in a grove of trees (both via parachute). At that time, one was confirmed injured.

Ho in the hell did we go from one out of two injured, to the pilot severely injured, and the engineer dying???

I can't seem to find this information anywhere.

Anyone?

It seems neither parachute opened fully as they were too low when they ejected. The pilot landed on a roof, and is badly injured but alive. The Engineer landed hard, and died.

From what I've read, anyhow.

I think by now we all know it was not the technician in the plane but their public affairs officer.

From my review of the video, the pilot did a zoom maneuver after loosing power, but was a bit to aggressive and stalled the jet at the top of the turn. Was just too low to recover.

If you watch the second video where the jets are approaching the person recording, right before the jet begins the zoom maneuver you can clearly here a 'thud' which indicates a compressor stall. Of course, this is all just speculation, but I have listened and watched the video in great detail. I have about 500 hours in a CT-114 from my days at the big 2.

I managed to speak to my friend on the snowbird team, apparently the 10 jet struck a bird resulting in the loss of engine power.
