I was playing BF2 on thursday and my video card crapped out. Since I'm running on hardware that's almost three years old I still have an AGP vid card slot and DDR ram. So I decided to bite the bullet and order all new hardware, hell I'm even getting a new case. I ordered it early Friday from NCIX.COM and was hoping it would be here by Saturday but I didn't realize that you have to pay extra for that.

Anyway once it comes in this week I'll be like a kid at christmas, I love new hardware and this will be so cool because I basically ordered an entirely new computer. The only thing I'm using from the old one is my SATA hard drive.

As of this week I will have:
Intel E6750 Dual Core
Asus P5k mobo
2 gigs OCZ DDR2 Ram
XFX 8500 GT vid car- I kind of cheaped out on this, turns out it's not that great but it was only 100 dollars.
Antech p182 case
Crucial 620 modular PSU- I really like this because you only plug in the wires you will be using, cleans up your case quite a bit.

Damn now I have to work all week so I won't get to fully enjoy my new computer. It should kick ass for BF2 and BF2142. All this for the low low price of about $1100. Once I receive all my rebates if I do, it should knock it down another 100 bucks. Thank God for credit cards.

... and what about a big ass screen? You need more RAM in case you run two sessions of Notepad

I bought an LG 20 inch widescreen LCD a few months ago. I wouldn't mind a couple more though. :)

Yes credit is such a good thing. ;)

Other than the Video Card, nice setup. If that card plays BF2 decently, tough it out until the next generation of DX10 cards come out. Then you'll get a decent DX10 card for <$300.

Ruez. Pretty nice setup you got there... that CPU you purchased overclocks pretty damn good, if that is your thing.

I have the same case as you & PSU as you, both are top notch. You will be surprised by the weight of the case... it's a solid chunk of material. The PSU mounts in the bottom of the P182, so you might want to map out how you are going to wire it up.... some of the cables with the HX620 are rather short.

yeah, you definitely need a big screen to go with that - at least a 24" widescreen!!
