Anyone have Medal of Honor and Elite Force (the first one, not the second one) sitting around?

Here's something fun to do:

Export the Elite Force weapons file into Medal of Honor and then go kill Germans on D-Day with photon torpedoes and phasers. 8)

I forget the file extension for the weapons, but I do recall it is easy to find.

If you're really bored you can find TONS of weapons mods for both games out on the 'net.

I used to mod Day of Defeat. Get new sounds, new player models, new weapon models. Good fun.

I remember Day of Defeat. I remember when it first became a mod for Half-life. It was one of my first online mutliplayer games for WWII. Great fun. Then the new and improved mods for it came a long.....

You mean source by new mods? If you do then I completely agree.

DOD used to be on a server of it's own, and wasn't affiliated with steam. Me and my friend played that game for a good year and a half every day. Then it went to steam and we stopped because it was so bad. Some how a dude running back and forth could shoot you in the head with an M1. So we were like fuck it, we took sniper rifles and Bazookas and just annoyed the hell out of people by killing them with it.

Then we got source....and that game fails in comparison to the old DOD.

Yeah. On steam that was one good addition. If you hucked a grenade into a window behind someone, they got blown out of the window. It was kinda funny. Also, alot of servers had mods that if you head shotted someone, their head would explode and a fountain of blood would squirt up like 100 feet. Good fun.

Hell, that must of been at least six or so years ago. Great to see the evolution of on-line gaming. It was all pure fun and now it's all about graphics and historical accuracy. Now we have those stupid MMRPG's. Of course, they aren't stupid if you like em.

Yeah. Plus there's way too many WW2 games these days. You think people would have had their fill of killing Nazi's already.

Yeah. And they are too generic now. The early ones were great, because they were fresh. But once you go through D-Day like 100 times, it gets pointless. At the same time I hate games like halo where they are so ridiculous. The weapons and stuff are insanely stupid. That's why I like 2142, you are (most of the time) still shooting [i]bullets[/u]. But it doesn't have that WW2 feel. It is the perfect blend of present and future.

Uncondtionally hating Nazis is the last acceptable bigotry. There'll never be enough of that.

Of course, there'll never be an end to guys who mash up games where the bad guys are Nazis and turn them into whatever some liberal will cringe over.

On the MMRPG front EA Games is developing a persistent world for Battlefield similar to WoW where clans can actually stake out spawn points and claim ground. A friend of mine is the game controller for the testing lab in Walnut Creek and has shared some buzz with me about it. Says we're looking at Christmas this year on the highly optimistic side for a release and more likely Christmas 2008.

Details:

The game map is the whole world with really small oceans but large enough that a BF jet fighter will take several hours to circumnavigate the "planet".

It'll require a monthly fee for access (no more free servers!!!) and the initial game will be US$50 to US$75.

Unlike BF where you can jump into a kit or a vehicle you'll have to purchase and download kits and vehicles from EA to use on the map.

And, yes, I'll buy it.

True, but it's getting over done don't you think? It seems like every other game is another WW2 themed fps or rts.
