Seriously...it's been driven winter in Atlantic Canada since year one and it's still solid underneath... Unlike those Toyotas that the owners were able to poke holes through with their fingers....

99.994% of people survive general anaesthetic. 6 people in 10,000 don't.

Vehicles cost alot of money. I don't know why people neglect something so costly when it's pretty easy to take care of them.

There's this one dude here in town that washes his truck every night. Before he heads home after his shift he hits the shop wash bay at the place he works. That truck is immaculate all the time.

Bastard makes me look like a slacker...

I have to admit I'm a little anal with my latest vehicle too. It's going to look new for a long time. Besides, there's a great deal of personal satisfaction in hand washing a car.

I was looking at buying a 2003 F250. 79,000 km on it too. When my mechanic looked at it, he just shook his head. It needed $3,000 to get it off the lot. The previous idiot/owner had done no maintenance and had parked it ina mud puddle so long that all the grease and lubes had emulcified.

Simply amazing.

I find it's good for some alone time. Kids don't come near if there's outside no-fun work going on.

This isn't news. It's occurred with every manufacturer at some point as far back as you want to go. Rotting fenders on Chrysler products, GM peeling paint, Hyundai Pony bodies etc. and it still happens on ALL brands ESPECIALLY when they’re not taken care of properly.

All you’ve done is take ONE specific example in a poor attempt to bolster your silly argument regarding North American superiority. It’s a myth.

My Matrix was built by Canadians and my Tundra was built by Americans.

Are we talking about the quality of their products here?

I like the Matrix. I think it could make an excellent second vehicle, or an excellent daily driver for a woman.

Big difference between a fender rusting and a frame rusting... The frame is the back bone of the vehicle...It provides structural strength... I have heard of rust problems but very few rusting frames... AND as others have posted here this has been a problem with Toyota trucks since the 1970's yet the problem continues...

I need some input, I want a vehicle to haul radio shit up the sides of mountains. Some serious off-roading here. Nothing really heavy to haul.
I was looking at a late 90s Cherokee, but now I have craziest idea:

#1> 1985 Iltis Cdn army Bombardier jeep for sale down south... missed an auction for them 3 years back as I was in surgery on auction day.

#2> 1992 Mitshubshi Kei mini-truck. 660 cc 4x4 pickup.

GF says I'm nutz, but the company is gonna buy what I want cuz the silent partners can STFU, I do all the work.

Landcruisers and Landrovers are tough vehicles.... My brother, my Dad & I all owned Landcruisers and they will go any where. Mechanically tough as nails but you can watch the frames and bodies rust away...

My brother and Dad used theirs for daily drivers as well as offroaders for hunting, fishing & camping. They would go places a Jeep would not... I used mine as a daily driver and often times I was one of the few to make it to the rink for our weekly game of hockey... But man did they rust... Mine was a basket case after only 5 years. Frame was rotted. Same as my Dad's & my brothers....

A friend also had a Landcruiser and he swapped in a 4 bolt main 350 V8 running nitros and a TH350 tranny.... He used it for 4x4 rally races and hill climbing competitions... It was a beast but would break differentials as they couldn't hold up to the extra power of the small block Chevy....
