Toyota has always seemed to have issues with their trucks rusting out. Even earlier models, the drive train was still awesome, but the frame and body panels would be rotten. My buddy was trying to build a hunting buggy using the Toyota diesel. After we had torn down 6, countem 6 trucks, only to find that we didn't have a repairable frame in the bunch. (This was over a few months of getting a truck, tear down, get another and so on.) They have holes in the frame that get clogged up with mud or rocks, they then hold water and mud up in the frame and they rot from the inside out. All the trucks we tore down "Looked" okay until you got the body off and started looking were you couldn't look until that stage. I think he's finally found one now that he can use. These were trucks ranging from 85-90 model years.

Maybe you could get to your point without taking shots at everyone.

Nope.

Neither does my son in-law's and it's been in and out of enough construction sites around the province to be considered severe duty. Even where the stone chips have gone through the paint there's no rust.

We'll have to get some close up shots of Stemmer's Impala to see how good his is.

Seriously...it's been driven winter in Atlantic Canada since year one and it's still solid underneath... Unlike those Toyotas that the owners were able to poke holes through with their fingers....

99.994% of people survive general anaesthetic. 6 people in 10,000 don't.

That of course makes your case that ALL North American products are BETTER than ALL imports, right?

Instead of just your personal comment, Spr, can we have that in blue ink as a moderator's warning?

That's like the Ford truck wheel well rust issues. I've made a particular effort to keep the box clean on my truck just to prevent that. Been eleven years and it's still OK.

Touch wood!

That was the point I made earlier. One of my neighbours has four old Datsun trucks that look like they've been restored (they haven't). He's just fussy about cleaning and maintenance.
