Seekbeaver.ca - A Proudly Canadian Search Engine
http://www.seekbeaver.ca

Could people check it out and let me know what they think...via PM, I don't think my thin skin could handle the public bashing.

We started the site cause we think that Canada has to start developing it's own internet reference medium. 80% of all internet traffic flows through search engines. Right now all of the major SE are HQ'd in the US. So we're starting to build our own. We're new but we'll grow and change in time, but we need Canadian's to tell us what they think. So constructive feed back would be appreciated.

Also note that 10% of the profits we generate from the site will be donated to Canadian communities to go towards Canada Day Celebrations. Thanks to all those who respond.

Are you sure? Because I remember seeing somthing on the Discovery Channle about them working on it in Toronto, at some University. Could be wrong, but it seemed to me that they were based in Toronto and still are. Hey, it was a long time ago; I can't really remember...

Thanks for the comments.

Ya there are a few Canadian search engines, and many of them don't get much traffic. We're keeping our eyes on the long haul though. Google is actually the new guy on the block, and boom their #1. Then there is Dogpile.com which doesn't even show up on the search engine ratings, yet still is pretty popular. We're definitely not looking to take the number one place, just exist as an alternative.

Canadians more than Brits and Aussies, actually type in nationalistic terms like canada or canadians to get more relevant results. Canadian's are actually very patriotic ( Hence this site right?), so were looking to connect proud Canadians with a Canadian resource.

Keep them coming.

As a question, what do people think is the major reason for Canadaka.net's success?

It's odd; it's like it doesn't even need to have incredibly strict modding and people don't tend to cause shit, they all seem to have a special whit about them that no other forum I've been to comes close to; ones that use incredibly strict modding usually end up distencing the members of it, and others just turn into cANADA f0ckin 0wnzerz, n0 aMERICA f0ckin 0wnzorz. It's like everyone on this site is actualy normal for a change... I've never been to a site with this kinda community.

I've just become a member so I can't really comment on the community aspect. I haven't event checked out the Gallery....honestly. I really like the look and functionality of it.

I was a google person myself. I don't like portal sites. I hate the adds, pop ups etc.

You have the same IP as Raineo so maybe he's gone through the site a bit better than you.
