dougC dougC: Harper is encouraging our military officials to get directly involved in the domestic politics of this country.
1. I don't think any soldier should speak ill of governments past or previous, particularily an officer, when on the public record.
2. I know Hillier in passing and certainly know of him. I can iron clad assure you that Harper has nothing to do with it and if anything, Harper has specifically requested that Hillier control his comments.
3. Irrespective of the first two observations, Hillier is right on the money and every soldier in Canada feels that way except george123.

dougC dougC: EyeBrock EyeBrock: You should know that the much maligned ‘right wing’ of CKA has a very high proportion of ex-military members, some still serving. You should make a note of that before you give us any more ill-informed sound bites from the Liberal la-la land of dishonour in all things defence orientated. Great recipe for a healthy democracy btw, "don't say anything that might offend the guys with the guns". It shows the lack of respect for the people of Canada that Harper is encouraging our military officials to get directly involved in the domestic politics of this country. Throw in two politically motivated police investigations last election(that proved baseless) and the conservatives have us headed down a road where we may not have to worry about having a democracy anymore. A right wing paradise I guess.
So just because we have actually got off our arses and served our countries denies us the right to comment on the democracy we fought to protect?
You really are spun.

Eyebrock, just ignore the full-of-shit dougc. He is so obviously brainwashed in his hatred of a conservative majority that he seen fit to invent an imaginary uncle "horribly" wounded during Viet Nam and young doug helped him in his time of need.
Doug, General Hillier and Stephen Harper are a breath of fresh air compared to the previous CDS's and PM's we had. Suck it up, it's a proud new era where Canadas heading. If you don't like it, you're free to leave.
Oh, say hi to all your imaginary relatives in the military, and remind them during any discusions not to speak about government as they should merely shut up and serve.

No one of my good mates was ex PPCLI and Airborne and he told me the nice nickname you guys gave our shy, retiring and fine role models we like to call the British Army.
