Props to Rain for 1) getting a link to Ricks site to work and 2) showing that Rick actually picks on the libs.

Very good points indeed.

Ya I like that in entertainers. If you have a public forum and people are listening to you atleast be neutral.

Rick Mercer like any popular comedian, must be a populist. Comedians who chose to do comedy on unpopular or strange things risk alienating their audience.

I saw some interviews of him, done by the Blogging Tories, at the Liberal convention and he came off as intelligent and politically savy.
I do believe he is a Liberal and he may be just mining some of the undercurrent from the convention floor. Maybe there iare a number of Liberals who are getting tired of the direction comming from the top and not the bottom. For certain, if nothing changes, the results will be the same.

Voting for a political party is different than believing in everything they say and do. Even if he is a "Liberal" voter or card carrying "Liberal" he couldn't possibly like everything they've done. You have to be able to call "Bull Shit" when you see it.........blind support for any party is dangerous. That's where we get nutbars.

I do hope the Conservative supporters remember this come the next election when they'll again begin complaining he's biased against them. and shouting that their tax money pays for his show.

The Republicans do it about Jon Stewart and only a few short months ago the conservatives here were villifying Mercer in the thread about skinny-dipping with Bob Rae.

Rick, by the way, was pretty vocally NDP 20 years ago, like most of us in the arts (like his CODCO companions. He may no longer be but as a gay man in the arts the likelihood is miniscule that he votes Conservative.
