Avro Avro: I guess I am not banned yet, Stellar has not yet read my post I guess. Until then, here is a little tid bit for all you right wingers that immediately jumped on the hate the new GG bandwagon....... $1: The government's policy of multiculturalism encourages people to stay in ethnic ghettos and leads to "all sorts of absurdities," according to governor-general designate Michaelle Jean.
Jean made the comments in French at a colloquium in Montreal last April, before she was named to be the country's next governor-general.
They were reported in the Canadian Jewish News.
"Citizenship means living together. ... But does 'multiculturalism' really propose us living together? We are even given money so that we will each stay in our own separate enclosure," she said.
"There's a kind of proposition of ghettoization that is there, and that is financed. Yet 'multiculturalism' is proposed as a founding model of Canada," she said at the colloquium, held by the Institut de Judaisme Quebecois. Norman spectatorIf this is my last post I bid you all farewell and a long prosperous life.
Good riddance if it is.

She's right. Multiculturalism has formed at least one big ghetto in Canada: Quebec.
It's been over two hundred years since Quebec became part of what would be Canada and they have yet to assimilate. On the contrary, the "diversity" has proven to be divisive by fostering separatism and Francophone bigotry.

An English-only law for Canada would go a long way to ending separatism.

But it would deny this countries heritage. I've noticed that it is the Quebecois who are bilingual while us Anglophones b!tch about it but don't know a lick of French. Funny how that works.

All multi culturalism does is stress differences between people, rather than what we all share in common. There should be one culture in Canada, the Canadian one, which created a nation and society that was the envy of the world. Why did people from the world over want to come to Canada? Those are the ideals that must be promoted.

I've noticed that Quebec outlaws English while the rest of Canada is legally required to be bilingual. Not funny at all.

I don't think he got the boot, he was just being a tad nasty with Stellar. It's not good to mess with mods.

I agree, it's the same thing in spain, france, russia, belgium etc.
In france I think they have 3 different cultures, which is the corses, the flamants, the wallons? I'm not sure if it's in Belgium though, in the last century around 40 country's voted YES to a referendum and now they have their own culture in their own country.
Tman1 that's why Canada wanted to assimilate us since 1760, they could have our ressources and an english majority of Québec voters.

Mais nous, on apprend l'anglais, contrairement aux anglais qui n'apprennent pas le français
Je me demandait au fait... qu'apprenez-vous dans vos cours de français? en avez-vous premièrement?
