Let us see how Harper shot himself in the crotch:
a. Harper makes an election promise that Income Trusts are sacred, and NO TAXES will be levied. He gets money and volunteers from Rich Canadians, and also their votes. About 20 seats.
b. As soon as he is elected, Harper cheats them and introduces taxes on income trusts!
c. He thinks 'After all, conservatives are stupid, and won't realise what happened.'
d. But they are not completely stupid. Not the Rich Conservatives, any way, or they would not be rich!
e. So now they gang up to make sure Harper is punished.
f. WE liberals are counting about 20 seats, and still counting...

Yeah, the issue doesn't matter to the vast majority of Canadians. Surely to God you realise that?
Besides, the corporate elite already wants the Liberals back in. It's not like we could do any more to piss them off.

Sorry to tell you this, but polls taken now do not show the effect when campaigning is in full swing. Harper has two choices:
a. Withdraw the tax and make people think he is of unstable mind.
b. Keep the tax and lose the contributions of rich canadians.
Since conservatives depend on the rich, 20 seats!

I guess Paul Martins Doctor took a big hit too.
Maybe this is why the Con's get $20's from everyone but the Libs must get $10,000 from a handfull of their pals.

Harper lost 5 billion in revenue by reducing the GST, and polls show that it got him not even one seat.
So he gained nothing there and lost 20 seats here.
