Alta_redneck Alta_redneck: If they included a postage paid envelope for your donation, stuff some of those free coupons you get in the mail and send them those.
If I get crap in the mail with a postage-paid envelope included, I usually stuff whatever was sent to me into that envelope and mail it right back to them, with a note asking them to please not send anymore.
As for political newsletters, I don't care what kind of douchebag I have for an MP, or from whichever party, I still read it. It's important to know what's being done in your riding so that if you don't like it, you can complain about it to the people responsible and vote accordingly in the next election.
If you vote out of ignorance, you might as well not vote at all.

ryan29 ryan29: various parties and candidates send out pamplets all the time , but i'm surprised liberals would waste there money in unwinnable ridings in alberta . but maybe they have nothing better to do.
i'm in ontario and haven't seen any thing from them for a while , think last year was last time i saw anything in mail and that was a year ago i'm guessing.
the funny thing is this pamphlet was from the recently defected Dr, Keith Martin PC MP turned Liberal causus. His riding is on a coast somewhere isn't it?

I prefer to keep an eye on our politicians through newspapers and such. Not through whatever party propaganda they're sending off. I always look at the things real quick to see if there's anything useful, there never is, and so I throw it out.
When your MP is a bastard from the Bloc, that sort of thing just tends to happen.

I allways get questionnaires asking questions about health care and my opinion on where the province should go.Nothing wrong with that.

There is a response slip on the bottom of the Liberal pamphlet. It says:
Hon. Stephane Dion
Leader of the Opposition
c/o Alberta Liberal Caucus
180 Wellington St.
Suite 145
Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6
NO POSTAGE REQUIRED

It says "The government has betrayed Canadian families with broken childcare promises."
Good grief! The liberals want to take my childcare money and dump it into the Ontario childcare system. But, instead, the Conservatives are sending me a monthly cheque that has travelled with me to 2 different childcare alternatives.
Stephane Dion can take his one size fits all solution and shove it up his ass!!!

Even if it is propaganda, and often horribly cynical at its worst, it'll give you a feel for how various MPs are campaigning and trying to win votes.

United Nations Slams Conservative Children’s Policies
November 20, 2007
OTTAWA – A new United Nations report on the plight of children confirms what many Canadians already know – the Conservative government of Stephen Harper is content to let children fend for themselves, Liberal Social Development Critic Ruby Dhalla said today.
“This report is a loud wake up call for anyone who cares about children in this country,” said Dr. Dhalla. “The real tragedy is that I don’t think anyone in this Conservative government is listening.”
The annual report was released today, the 18th anniversary of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. It builds on an earlier UN report this year on the well-being of children, in which Canada placed 12th out of 21 countries, behind nations such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Spain and Switzerland. The United States ranked 21st.
Of particular concern in Canada is the high number of children in the justice and welfare systems. The report also focuses on the plight of Canada’s aboriginal children, who lack housing, clean water and educational opportunities.
“The Conservative government’s decision to eliminate the Kelowna Accord and cancel the previous Liberal government’s national child care agreements have been major setbacks for this country’s children,” said Dr. Dhalla. “A new Liberal government will address these challenges, just as we will address poverty with our 30-50 poverty reduction plan.
“The state of Canada’s children is a national concern and the UN’s report is a sharp indictment the negligence of this government. The Conservatives have had ample opportunity to act on child poverty, national child care and the needs of aboriginal children and have chosen to do nothing. There has been no leadership and no action for the children of Canada.”
