As I've always said, Garth Turner isn't in poltics because he likes to serve the people. He likes to feed his own ego.

Last year when Garth was booted from the Conservative's, he held a town hall meeting.

He asked his constituents, what he should do:

Resign your seat - 0%

Negotiate back into caucus - 17%

Join the Liberals - 0%

Go Green - 17%

Stay independent - 31%

Wow four threads on the same subject the cons really are sweating over this.

He has issued the challenge. If all the other floor crossers are willing to hold by-elections he is willing to do the same. BTW he covered all the points in advance, with the constituency chair and those in his riding. Did Mr Emerson bother to do that....hum.....NO!

More Con BS spin

No kidding. I just read one of the other topics, and OTI said almost the exact same thing on one of them about 3 or so hours before starting this topic.

There's no whining. Rather, there's a lot of laughter.

Do I care that Garth went to the Liberals? Hell no.

Do you actually think Conservatives are sweating over this? That's funny.

Lily, the new information was worth a new post. A post to show exactly who Turner is and what he's done to serve his own ego.

I find it amusing that the man prides himself on being a lifetime Conservative. A man, who's sole purpose is to serve his constituents, turns his back on his two most important political principals.

So you're surprised that he acted like a typical politician and human being? ie. in his own self-interests?

Considering who we're talking about, no. Not at all.

That's some kind of ego you have, OTI... you feel your "quip" was so pithy and/or witty it deserved not only a post, but to be showcased in it's very own topic?

You're a politician in real life, aren't you? :D

Coming from the person who denied for a good year that she wasn't a Liberal, speaks volumes.

Going on.....

This new information surely does deserve it's own post. Garth needs to be exposed for the fraud that he is. As an a resonably intelligent person, lily, you should see that the two posts are actually different in their substance but refer to the same man. One is about his move to the Liberals and the other is about his priciples or lack thereof. Related? Yes. The same? No.

I expect more out of you lily. Reading is usually your strong point. :D

Whatever Lily. Actions speak louder than words.

I didn't see that poll on Garth's site and I'm glad you brought this up.
Like Cadman before, he's turning a whole 180 degree opposite on what he said he believed before. Libs better get used to hearing that because they'll hear it from Garth soon as the new wears off.

And there are still more Emerson threads :-)

I'm not a Liberal.
I'm a liberal, and only ever-so-slightly left of centre.

Unlike you. ;)

What new info? Your original post was a mere 3 hours before you started this topic, with essentially the exact some words.

Most people just "bump" the topic. ;)

That little icon next to your name says otherwise. Perhaps if you were not a true "Liberal", you wouldn't join the group :)

lily, did the original post speak about the thoughts of his constituents?

Did the original post speak about the poll he proposed to his constituents?

Take off the Liberal hat, it's blocking your view of words right in front of your face!

I knew Chuck Cadman. He voted by talking to the locals, not taking his own views, or those of the party and forcing them on people. He spent so much time wondering about town that we joked about him being a "Street Person" of good standing. I take offence to you placing Turner and Cadman in the same paragraph.....Totally disrespectful.

You couldn't have added the poll to the original topic? Of course you could have. But as ridenrain so eloquently said.... whatever. :D It's fairly obvious what you're doing. ;)

Or I could have made my own topic, which I did.

WOW 8O this is some serious stuff , I'm surprised this topic hasn't taken off running through pages of posts . I think it really shows the true concensus of how most Canadians truly feel deep down inside . Hell split the country up into 50 different provinces ...its happened before .Maybe one day we'll look like Bosnia

I voted for him twice and was quite a supporter of him also. When the final vote came up I blitzed his office with E-mails, faxes and calls about 2 weeks aheard of time and never heard anything back. They said that his decision was based on some CTV poll but I never saw or heard about it.
I've got his whole website saved and all his press releases are pretty damning on the Liberals for a great number of reasons. His support did not fit with everything he said before. Just imagine the difference of oppinion the Liberal supporters would have of Mr. Cadman if he voted differently? Do you imagine they'd have the same respect or reverence? I doubt they would.
I've written quite about this on this site and I stand by my opinion.
Since you're a local, we can discuss this further over beer.

Met Garth Turner twice back in the mid nineties, found him a little flaky so this is no surprise.
