Obviously, in Canada, we are allowed Freedom of Speech. It seems though, that in some political forums (outside of this one of course) that if you dissagree with the moderator's political views, you will have your posts edited, deleted, or locked out - any thoughts???

I tried that same "Freedom of Speech" line on my mom one time. It didn't work then either.

Just as in the public, there's a fine line between freedom of speech and keeping the peace. The point of a fourm is to have good, open, non-hostile discussions on things. Nobody (well,... not many people) like to read a forum where it's just one big nonsensical shitstorm. In that respect, mods have to "keep the peace" by culling people who are obviously out to create just that.
Just like in public, I'm free to say whatever I want, but if I were to go and get up in someone's face and start harassing them on random things, the cops would have a right to pull me away and calm me down, because I was disturbing the peace.

I agree, however, when you are having a political discussion, and one person (the moderator) dissagrees with your political views, and he decides to edit/delete your posts, that isn't freedom, that's communism.

When, exactally, were you granted the right to be heard? Especially when that speech is paid for on someone elses dime . . .

it's ironical that when you are arguing over democratic issue that the moderator deletes your message when he disagrees with it. Even if the website is private, if you operate a political forum, you should keep it open to all views (unless it is deemed racist or offensive).

Freedom of speech ends with the hate begins. We dont delete posts unless all it is is flaming. We want there to be an open discussion, but as soon as people start taking shots at each other we have to step in. The G4/Tech TV forums are terrible for that kind of stuff. As soon as youu question a decision made by them the post is deleted and in most cases your account is gone to.

Start your own site and post whatever the hell you want. When you're a GUEST like me you go by the rules the host sets out for you.
Or leave.
