Scape Scape:
C'mon CFS Alert, now that's the hole! And the women!

I'd taken that!
A hole is a fire trench on a bald ass hill in Wainwright (or the Mattawa, or Gagetown), in Februrary, after the tenth day, and it never climbed above
-25c once during that time.

There is worse but the above has a tendency to recur... frequently.

I'm actually only in grade 9. You need to have your grade 10 education to join the reserves.

Reserves. Good job. I was thinking of going that route (I am in grade 11) but then I decided not to because of the fact that there are no reserve air units nearby...

But yeah to be an officer in the reserves its the same standards as in the regs, post-secondary education. But I think you can go to college and take officer's course at the same time...and you might be able to work out a deal with them paying for your education.

Join the winning team. The US military has better equipment. And you are a guranteed a war during your service instead of playing cards all day in a barn in the artic. But still repect your decision. Anything is better than being a burnt out hippie.

Running, sit ups, pull ups, chin ups. There is a minimum fitness standard, but to survive basic you'll need to be able to do at least twice as many push ups and situps as you are required too.

Currently, you don't need to pass a fitness test to get in, but as soon as you arrive you need to pass it. If you fail you go to the remedial squad (fat squad) to get you fit. if you don't pass within a certain time period, you are discharged.

As soon as your in basic I've been told you do push ups for all sorts of things. I'm looking forward to it myself.

It's pussy shit that any kid could do once upon a time. I went through basic in 1984 and then it was a mile and a half in under 12 minutes(this is a really slow jog, and I had no problem doing it in 8). I had a more strenuous regime in highschool football.

Here is the one exception:

The year I was in basic, the PERI staff introduced aerobics. Mistakenly, I thought pfffft girlie stuff set to music. Our PERI, a Cpl. Byron was in some team that did this crap competitively (yeah we all thought major homo too) and after the first time, most of us were laying in a pool of sweat twitching. Give me circuit training any day!

I can still do amile and a half in under 12 minutes easily......just using four wheels rather than two legs now. At the time I thought, I'm in the navy, where the hell would I be required to run anywhere for a mile and a half'? This is a time you don't want to ask, 'what would Jesus do?'

oh, nice necro by the way.

I was wondering about the necro.

anyways, apparently the fitness portion of basic is run by civilians now. I have to admit I'm not fond of the idea.
