$1: PM insists on only Kabul Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg repeatedly assured questioners in parliament on Wednesday that the new Norwegian forces being sent to Afghanistan will solely operate in the Kabul area, and insisted that the issue has not split the majority coalition government. The opposition demanded clarification on this point after Defense Minister Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen said Tuesday that there would be no limitation on where the 150 new soldiers could be deployed, while Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre insisted that Kabul was their only sphere of operation.
"We have made it clear to NATO that the forces shall only be used in Kabul and no other place. If they need to be moved elsewhere then this will be a matter of governmental discussion," Stoltenberg said.

Watching Norway the past few years is probably how other countries felt watching Canada under Liberal "leadership" the past decade+. It's kinda embarrassing, sort of like looking into a mirror and realising that maybe you're not big boned, maybe you're really just fat.

Norway does have a smaller pop. and standing army than Canada so I should not really pick on them when FRANCE and GERMANY are such obvious targets.

I was reading in "The Province" yesterday, that a joint Conservative/Liberal senate delegation to Afghanistan has unanimously recommended that if our NATO allies don't start helping out on the front lines, Canada should pull it's troops. I guess many of our "Allies" are refusing to go into actual combat over there. If this is the case, why the hell are our people dieing for this mission when other countries are standing by and doing nothing but saluting each other. I say, support our troops and pull them out.

I don't believe there is an even distribution of Conservative & Grit senators in the first place but even if there were, I do object to them suddenly apearing to give us their opinion on foreign policy, expecially so many years too late.
Where were these impartial senators when Chretien put us in a war without a referendum or even a public announcement? Probably the same place they were when we they signed Kyoto without actually understanding it.

What the fuck? Since when does an unelected senate say what we should or shouldn't do. Fuck that. This is a democracy. Appointed people do not judge on what we should or should not do.

I just thought I'd point out a bit you left off.
The fact that they were unanimous was covered by my comment that they were all equally culpable.
You missed my questions. Where were they 6 years ago?
Where was the "sober second thought" when our PM put us in a war?
I noticed you're flag and this was not intentionally aimed at you. As I said, there are other countries much more deserving than Norway.

See that, tricks? It says recommended. Whoops, I did miss that... Uh...Yeah... My bad.
Still. They shouldn't be recommending anything. The Senate right now is pointless.

You don't think Norway should pull it's weight in an international alliance?
Do you think the blood of Norwegens is worth more than the blood of 10 Canadians?

Sorry. looks like their blood is much more valuable:
$1: As of February 10, 2007, there have been 458 coalition deaths in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF): 297 American, 46 British, 44 Canadian, 19 Spanish, 18 German, 9 French, 9 Italian, 4 Dutch, 4 Romanian, 3 Danish, 2 Swedish, 1 Australian, 1 Norwegian, and 1 Portuguese.

We should have been in Afghanistan years before we were... and you're suggesting the Senate should have objected 6 years ago? On what grounds? You're quoting me? I'm not suggesting anything. I'm just playing the game.

For fucks sake, the Kabul is safe, as is much of the North!
If we are to even truly win over Afghanistan, we need fellow NATO allies to step up efforts in the south. Yanks, Canucks and Limeys can't do it all. Cut us some slack.
