I'm curious as to what people think is the single most important battle in the history of western civilization. My choice is the battle of Thermoplylae in 480BC where a handful of Greeks led by Leonidas of Sparta held off the massive Persian army of Xerxes long enough for the Greek navy to assemble at Salimas and destroy the Persian fleet. This halted the invasion and saved the fledgling democratic Greek city states, and in my humble opinion, western civilization itself. Leonidas and his troops died to the last man. Any thoughts?

Good choice, however there are countless battles that shaped our civilization. The most important war in human history was WW2, the most significant day of that war was June 6, 1944.

The Battle of Hastings, Battle of Trafalger come to mind. The Battle of Britian also. The Battle of Gettysburg was a major battle in US history which shaped the current USA & our world. Wars & battles are all connected....

Yes. The most important battle for Western civilization is the one we're losing in the streets of Europe as muslims accomplish the annexation of Europe into a new caliphate.

The Fall of Grenada. Why? Because it stopped the spread of Islam into Christian Europe and upon capturing the library in Grenada, the Europeans were opened to a vast expanse of knowledge that helped to spark the Renaissance, thusly beginning a revolution that would sweep Europe and brought about a new age of thinking and culture to Europe...

I definitely agree Thermopylae is one of those turning points of history.

My choice; the Battle of Poiters/Tours in about 732.

Only 250 years after the fall of the Roman Empire in the west, Charles Martel and about 30,000 Franks soundly defeated a Arab army of almost 100,000. He not only defeated the Arabs but prevented them from overruning the entire continent.

Much like Leonidas at Thermopylae, Martel saved Western civilization which at the time were still going through the Dark Ages.

Despite this, Martel is all but unknown to most Westerners. Martel's grandson is far more well-known though...Charlemagne.

In a similar vein, the naval battle at Lepanto (where the Med was declared a European lake and not an Islamic one) and the Siege of Vienna were also important in preventing Islamic domination of Western society.

Don't worry about Avro Bart, if he hurries and converts to Islam now he can buy a wife from Pakistan for a mere 20,000 dollars and she'll be delivered in a few weeks. It really brings a tear to my eye to know how worthless woman are in Islamic countries.

Want to talk hate Avro read the following transcript, note how he tells Muslims to hack up children Avro. Do you care no, as per the norm the left/left only care about the Killers and the Child Abusers and the Slaughters the victims matter nought.

As I have posted before, the truth about they "left weaklings"....

This is the true account of how mankind has developed.

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:
1. Liberals; and
2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B- Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girliemen. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.

Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Toronto and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Canadians. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to Canada. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Here ends today's lesson in world history:
It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it. A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to piss them off.
