Holy Shit!! The base(CFRS Cornwallis) commander's residence is up for sale. 4000 sq. ft. 2 acres of land and a small barn. All for $150 000. Only thing is it is now listed as a commercial property, rather than residential. Hmmmmm.....I enjoyed my time in Nova Scotia years ago.

Someone posted it on the Cornwallis FB page. Pretty depressing to look at the state it's in now. Sure it was a highly regimented life for those ten weeks, but i have lots of fond memories of the place. Looking back on fleetschool and being posted to the Yukon, it seems like it was really the only time I was in the actual 'military'.

I remember having some good times in Cornwallis. Change parades, morning inspections, PT right after getting about 10,000 needles, getting beasted for the sake of getting beasted, gas hut training with enough CS to fuck up the entire military.

any idea what is around the site now ? Private houses ?

google has crap sat pics, and no street view.

And anything 'historic' about the place looks like it was stripped out
long time ago already.

They've tried turning the base into a commercial area. Not too sure how that's going, as it's just small communities around the area. A better use might be to turn the place into a B&B with a small conference centre/retreat.

Judging from the empty rooms and the price, I would say it's not going very well.

I have ideas for the place, but it needs a lot of work, and some boots on the
ground to look at the place first.

Bit difficult to do that from the Island.

The only way I'd buy that place is if it came with two Stewards, a Cook and the entire Radar Plotter trade to do daily cleaning stations.

Nice location though, to bad it's in Cornwallis. Maybe if they moved it to Esquimalt they'd have better luck selling it.

Not if they strategicley placed it in Macauly Point with the other PMQ's. The odour there is enough to drop that extra zero from the price tag.
