This all depends on whether the photo you saw was a propaganda photo, or a simple lighting problem. Many years ago I watched a DND commercial being shot in Victoia BC. The entire cast was made up of actors. My CO finally got pissed off and sent over some of us to dress them properly...Even took one of the guys over for a haircut.
I shoot photography as a sideline. The light can do funny things to an object. Are you sure the green was just a very dark green to begin with and the film reacted funny to it. I've seen it happen a lot. That's why most photographers love photoshop by Adobe!
Years ago, 1987, when I remustered out of the PPCLI into the Air Force, I was between identities. I wore an air froce cap badge and an army uniform. The military had just changed to DEU and all I had was brown/green in my locker. Since I was no longer PPCLI I was told I could not wear my head dress with the PPCLI badge. I wasn't given a new uniform for close to 3 months and had to wear the bird with the brown short sleeve summer dress shirts. Confused the shit out of everyone.
