My father (whom I've never met) was born in Vancouver; I'm not sure how long his family was in Canada before his birth. However on my mom's side we've been here for hundreds of years as her mother (my nana) is full Native American. Her dad (my grandpa, though he and nana have been divorced since before I was born) was born in England, though he's lived here in Canada since he was two.

My father's ancestor came here in 1534 with Jacques Cartier, as for my mother's one I don't know.

1534? There were no colonies in Canada in 1534. Do you mean Samuel de Champlain in 1608?

My ancestor on my Mom's side arrived in Quebec in 1654 and settled first around Levis and then in the Beauce region. (Anecdote: up until my generation, there has been a "Louis" in the family non-stop since we arrived in America.)
I'm not as positive on my Dad's side. I'm pretty confident it was in 1657, but i have to make a one generation "leap of faith". Otherwise, i can go as far back as 1717.

My mothers side is interesting. Her father came from Denmark during the 1920's and worked as a trapper/mink farmer in Northern Sask. That's where he met his Cree wife that bore his 3 children including my mom. Dad's side is French (I assume as his last name was Carriere)but I have no clue about his ancestral roots...he was a bit of a dead beat Dad and split when I was young.

On my mom's side, her paternal great grandfather and kin came from Lancashire, the rest of her family were United Empire Loyalists from Renfrewshire, Ontario, who moved west in the 1870's. On my dad's side, his father, came from Ayrshire, Scotland and my grandmother's family were United Empire Loyalists(Located in Cornwall, Ont. for the most part) and before the American Secession, original members of the Mayflower Compact.

Before colonization.

Great/great/granpa. (can't remember how many generations)
Mid 1600's if I recall having read.
Nouvelle France was a penal colony back then.
Sent over a "Tremblay" with his wife.(?)
They had 19 sons....
Kinda takes "Be fruitful and multiply to the extreme."
(LOL)
He was a felon of some kind.
This was mother's side.

Father is aboriginal... all things were burned when the missionaries came to "civilize".

And people wonder about me???
The Irish descent... well there was the back of a barn during the famine and... nuff' said?

Back then in Quebec Catholic churches... it was a sin to be an orphan... as if the Irish famine refugee children could help it .
Hell everything is still a sin!
So The only logical course of action was to investigate the aboriginals.
MWAHAHAHA....
Hence the beginning of a Metis Nation was about to be born....
Twas interesting times I am sure.

Mom's side: since 1535 (no joke)

Dad's side: since 1973
Before that, they we're Native Ecuadorians( Incan Pride!)

My ethnic background is so mixed it's freaky! 8O

“1535”?!?!? Holy Crap – that’s only 38 years after Cabot reached Newfoundland! Wow! Not only that, but by 1535, Cartier’s 2nd voyage was approaching Hochelaga! Do you have any other information – this is actually quite remarkable. Cool. 8)

Err got a question Arctic menace, the topic is how long your family was in Canada, how is 1535 possible when nobody has colonized Canada until 1608 by Cartier?

The kid is compusive liar he has also claimed to have travel the world and remeber it all at the ripe age of 16
