When reading anything by Donnie I am immediately reminded of the phrase "Ignorance is Bliss". In Donnies case he must be the happiest man on the planet!

The US supported the mujahdeen who eventually became the Northern Alliance who fought for control of Afghanistan with, you guessed it, the TALIBAN! Still following, I do realise it is hard for you to keep up to current affairs with all your whining about centuries old treaties, that may or may not say what natives wish them to say.
The Taliban tried to eradicate the opium crops as a means to cut off funding to the NA, nice try but didn't work out to well. The TALIBAN, who you obviously like for their tolerant views of other religions, destroyed Buddhist statues that were over a thousand years old, routinely tortured people for the slightest thing, executed women and children, created a theocratic state in which dissenting views were dealt with by execution!
And still you see no reason for trying to help the Afghan people? Killing the enemy, while distasteful, is something that must and should be done. If you have a problem with that, too bad! I guess in your rose-colored world we should invite the Taliban and al Queda over for a debate and a few beers and everything will be ducky!
