i always liked .net its the coolest 3 letter domain. I had a .bc.ca at one point, not for this site though.

I guess I could get a .ca aswell, but the .ca costs more, and i have no money, i'm a broke ass collage student

... well that might have something to do with .us is new and .ca has been around for a long time, and used to be free, in the day.

The whole TLD things throws me for a loop sometimes. I see alot of people who ahve sites with.tv, .nu or .cc. The strangest still has to be .tk which you can register for free, but you get popups.

just a side not another reason i choose .net, besides it being the "coolest" was if the site ever got "big" and incorperated the company would be called Canadaka Networks

Well, at www.registeryour.ca a .net and .ca cost the same - something like $24 bucks a year I think was the amount I paid for my .ca.

I have 2 questions:

Why was .ca free at one point?

and

Why is .tk a free short URL?

These are 2 questions that boggle my mind.

.tk isn't a domain. It's like Bravenet redirectors - ie. a .tk just send you to another URL and masks that URL from your browser, much like a clik.to does.

Cool. But why was .ca formally a free service?
