Without private health care spending so much on trying to get out of paying a claim, Canada gets ten times the health care per dollar as the US.
We don't spend 40% of our GNP on killing people and making enemies faster than we can kill them.
Thus we don't have to be so ashamed of our country as to feel the need to wear someone elses flag on our backpacks when we travel.

Random thought: Of course, Canada is better than the US in virtually every imaginable respect......

....but isn't comparing Canada to the US setting the bar rather low? Surely we can aspire to something greater than merely outdoing a glorified banana republic.

A banana republic is a Nation that exports only one basic commodity. Canada corresponds more and more to this definition, the USA have never corresponded to this definition at all.

Sociologically, if not economically (yet).

Canada is now suffering from the Dutch disease, the USA, not at all.

I find the easiest way for recruit a group that supports my opinion, is to work in a little bit of anti-americanism into my arguement.
You do this often Redneck?

Wow. When I hear this conversation coming from my fellow Americans, about how the US is so much better than (insert country here), I generally tell them how petty they're being.

I expected better from Canadians.

Well Being a Devout Canadian living in the land of the Giant. I see daily that they claim to be the greatest country on Earth.
hmmmm.... Canada's cities are far cleaner, we have great scenery, we have hockey.
hmmmm.... United States, better pay for the same jobs as Canada, Elected Judges and a better voting system.

Canada's health care system is the biggest reason for Canadians paying so much in Taxes.
United States Health care system is a mess too, but if you can afford it you get better care.

I like them both! I live in the US and enjoy the hell out of it. I miss Canada because of my friends and relatives.

Canada better..... In some ways yes. In some ways no.

I've lived and worked in both as well. There's positives and negatives for each of them.
