BartSimpson BartSimpson: YOUR_DEAD YOUR_DEAD: ManifestDestiny ManifestDestiny: You guys can keep your "free healthcare" we dont want it, over 70% of Americans feel this way.
Like I need my healthcare run by the goverment, Just look at your average motor vechicle departments. Thats not how I want my HC run. How come the DMV is the example critics always use? How are those socialist Fire Department, Police, or Military working out for you? Apples and oranges. Compare the DMV to fire department, police department, and military adminstrators and then you'd be on the right page.
LOL, but its not apples and oranges to compare the health care system to the DMV?

sthompson sthompson: Yup, it really sucks when I go to the hospital and get free care. Awful. Terrible. Oh, the red tape. Wait, there is no red tape, because red tape is what you get when you have to get private health insurance. But if you buy into the sales pitches of the vultures who work in the US insurance industry then I guess you wouldn't know that.
Oh, and ManifestDestiny, just because most people think something doesn't make it right/true. That's called a logical fallacy. Look it up.
Unfortunately, pretty soon there may be no differences left between Canada and the U.S., thanks to all the "harmonization" between Canadian and U.S. standards, regulations and policies being put in place by the CEOs of companies like Wal-Mart under the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP). And we'll have nothing to argue about anymore. Unless we stop the progress of deep integration.

figfarmer figfarmer: Canada is real estate. The US is real estate. Canada is somewhat more sensibly run that the states, but is no better, except in that we haven't abused our natural resources so badly. The people of Canada are no better than the people of the United States of America. They are just better informed.
The government of the USA is more corrupt than the government of Canada. That is the major difference. They are both corrupt, but one is more so. Location, location , location!

Streaker Streaker: You're splitting hairs. The outcome of the invasion was the death of huge numbers of innocents.
Who invaded Iraq, again?
The United States, under a small coalition. Who caused the thousands of civilian deaths? Oh right, terrorist bastards. Of course, once again ammunition from the death of soldiers and civilians is perfect for you

The huge death toll in Iraq has been a direct consequence of the invasion by the US and its coalition partners. They are responsible.

No, they aren't. The terrorists are responsible for their actions. See if I blow up a car, its my fault, not the government, be it Canada or the US or anybody else. At most Iran is responsible for helping fund them.

No country can be compared to the USA because there can be no other Pax in the world until the Pax Americana is alive.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Arrow Arrow: BartSimpson BartSimpson: sthompson sthompson: Yup, it really sucks when I go to the hospital and get free care. Really? So you pay no taxes whatsoever? You make no payments to Health Canada? So you're just a parasite on the Canadian economy, right? Fine. So we all pay taxes to support health care for all. Uhm, no. If this guy is not paying any taxes (in order for "free" to be true) then not all of you pay to support the system. Arrow Arrow: Terrible eh? That said, if we all struck a middle ground about looking after ourselves in the first place, it'd be a better thing and in the great scheme of things will turn out to be. But the uncomfortable reality of things is that it's better to be a working ahmoe in Canada and get sick than it it in the States. Cool. So you don't mind if we send all of our homeless and 20 million Mexicans on up to enjoy your free healthcare, eh?
They wouldn't like the climate. That and the numerous lake monsters...

What you have to understand is that paying tax and looking after ourselves presuppose that we are healthy enough.
