Hey IO I am just trying figure out who is exporting what idea..........Yer post made little sense

Seems clear as distilled water to me..

I don't know about you, but I'm not too comfortable with the idea of their police inside our borders just for the sake of "security."

Ok...... I just read the previous three pages of this thread over again and no where do I see someone suggesting US police on our side of the border. If I missed it please feel free to point it out.

I hate to say this and kick a can of worms, but if we were to invade it would be with much more than a few helicopters and some overrated police officers...or are you saying that such a force constitutes a threat to Canada?

Read it again.
It doesn't say that they are on our side of the borders....

That is where you got that from? 8O Bart was talking about a hypothetical invasion and from this you get US cops on our side of the border. Amazing. No wonder your original post made no sense, because your answer makes about the same amount of sense. Nada.

Do you really believe that the US would invade us? I am supposed to be the paranoid neocon here.

Lord-Beaverbrook Lord-Beaverbrook:
If the States invade from anywhere, clearly it is from Alaska. From Alaska they'll take over our most important cities, such as Whitehorse and Yellowknife with lightning speed. Then, with a coalition force with the devious Danish, whom shall invade from Greenland, shall take Ontario and Quebec, then sweep through the Maritimes. Eventually they'll go back for the West. They take out Alberta and the other western provinces quickly but there shall be a lot of inssurgency in Alberta, because they have a lot of gas and oil bitumen. Then after it is all over, we shall all gather in a cirlce and dance... to the Village People.

The Danish are already taking over Alberta , Billion dollar land sales to the Danish annually . Some southern albertans don't like it

Have you even seen Denmark's military? I think we could take em. Plus, it's more viable for America to side with us on the matter because we're more important to them than Denmark.

Our tactical superiority will be clearly demonstrated when we kick the shit out of any glacier that stands in our path with those new ice-breakers....

Then, when the ADF has been fully implemented, we'll show those whales, seals, and polar bears who the real kings of the arctic are!

It would have to be a summer invasion. We've all seen how many americans drive in the snow. Half their army would be rendered useless and in the ditch. :D

Honestly, if the US invaded, I think it would be quick, because we'd all be in shock.

Security stuff makes us all itchy.

Now, when I go down to the waterfront I see small U.S. Coast Guard boat cruising by with their machine gun mounted on the bow. I would feel better if that was my boat.

I have Strykers along side me on the freeway with their machine guns mounted. (the first Stryker type vehicles we had were borrowed from Canada!). I want one of those!

Yesterday I got caught at airport security with a pen knife. I forgot to take it off my key ring. I tried to hide it in my computer bag behind the power supply and its wires. Well, have you ever seen the X-Ray machines we have now? The stuff shows up in color and they can go layer by layer. I didn't have a chance. They were nice... pulled me aside, search my computer bag with the sniffer and confiscated my pen knife. Offered to mail it to me. I told them to keep it. But what a hassle. Last year I got to airport security with a butane lighter and tried to find someone to give it to before I went through. Does Canada have this?

Many years ago, I was hiking with group through the back forest in Hawaii. A U.S. Army helicopter was tracking us (just for fun... ) and watched us swimming in a hidden swimming hole (yea, we had some chicks with us). This was just fun, but also kind of intimidating.

After, 9-11 we had kids with M-16's standing around the airport. I felt more uncomfortable than secure. I would feel more secure if I was carrying the rifle.

I think most of the Canada - U.S. border security is about Canadian pot. Now this is a waste. We need to put all our drug enforcement efforts into education and medical care. It used to be Canadian booze and that was a waste.

The only Canadian security problem we have is that you allow guys like Amad Ressam to wander in to your country. But we had the same problem at the time. Now, I believe that when we caught Ressam getting off the ferry, we had already been tipped off from the Canadian side.

I think we can work together on security like we always have. I have been troubled recently. We got a guy, Mike McGavick starting a campaign for Washington State Senator. His first television ad mentions a "...security problem as close as the Canadian border...".

Sigh.... sigh.. sigh...

I think Canada needs a publicity campaign to convince the American people that Canada has security and that we are all on the same side. This might sound silly, but we need something to offset the political pandering.

Who cares if they United States has B-1's flying along the border. What they do on their side is their business. Think about the fact that there are missle silos 10 miles on their side of the border. Some folks are making something out of nothing.

Tman1 Tman1:
$1:
EDMONTON (CP) - The United States will be using Blackhawk helicopters and planes along the Montana border with Alberta and Saskatchewan to watch for terrorists, drug-runners and illegal immigrants.

The aircraft will be equipped with cutting-edge photographic surveillance and monitoring equipment to watch for any suspicious activity, a spokesman for Montana Republican Senator Conrad Burns said Friday. Matt Mackowiak said the beefed-up border security comes in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the U.S.

"(Sept. 11) taught us a lot, and the northern border requires greater security and greater surveillance," Mackowiak said from Washington, D.C.

"I think the Congress, the administration and the American people are committed to making sure we are doing everything we can to protect America."

This is the third of five special surveillance units to open along the U.S. border with Canada. The air unit will be based in Great Falls, Mont.

Last year, Burns secured an $18-million US appropriation from the Department of
Homeland Security for the Montana air unit, putting it ahead of schedule by one year. It's expected to start operations this summer.

The air border patrol is intended to provide a rapid response in the event of another terrorist attack, Mackowiak said.

Apart from terrorists, the aircraft will be used for drug enforcement and immigration control.

Mackowiak called it a win-win situation, saying increased border security benefits both countries.

But any time there is increased surveillance there are civil liberties and privacy concerns, he acknowledged.

"We are not trying to interrupt the honest flow of goods and services and commerce between Montana and Canada," Mackowiak said. "It's in everyone's interest to facilitate as much of that as possible."

Canadian officials had little comment about the U.S. plan.

"Canada recognizes that every country has the right to protect its borders," said Kara Prest, a spokeswoman for the Canada Border Services Agency.

The first surveillance unit was announced in 2004, and has been operating out of Bellingham in Washington state. Another unit opened in upstate New York, south of the border with Quebec.

Mackowiak said both of those units have intercepted large drug shipments and have made arrests.

The U.S. also plans to set up air border patrols in North Dakota and Michigan in the future.

The government operates similar patrols along the U.S.-Mexico border.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/cpress/20060204 ... ir_patrols

So, we got the controversial wall, controversy over identity cards, walking armed American patrols, armed American border guards, a partridge in a pear tree, and how armed choppers and fighter jets. In normal circumstances, that would be an aggressive act of war doing that along borders but I can understand the US' plight. Be careful you don't have your windows blacked up, speed, or stop when they all of a sudden shoot at you in warning of being a potential terrorist. I guess Canadians are just like Mexicans, trying to border jump. I wonder what would be next?

Jesus, you just do not get it, do you?

Yours is typical of the apathetic attitude to the war on terror up here.

Hopefully a big terror attack will not happen in Canada, but if it does, we'll see how you feel about this.

It's one thing to just stand on the sidelines while the US fights for freedom, but it's another thing completely to do so and make fun of them protecting their borders. They do a much better job of it than we do.
