You are judging an entire portion of the political spectrum because of a single criticism (and how legitimate that criticism is can also be argued) of a single government that served only four years and whose members have acknowledged they did not expect to win and were not prepared to govern.

Do you think Bob Rae is Satan? Are you positive Mike Harris could have done better at that point in time? Would the Ontario economy have boomed without the original infusion of money into the economy?

You aren't saying that you are at odds with the philosophy of the NDP, and I doubt you even understand what that philosophy is or the history it's based on, you are saying that you don't like Bob Rae because of what he did to a single province and therefore the NDP cannot be trusted to manage an economy.

Why not have a look at Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Now I know somebody is going to start whining about about Manitoba's present deficit, but if the Conservative policies had been followed here, income would have been even lower.

Saskatchewan was on the verge of bankruptcy when the NDP took over. Now they are a have province.

The NDP in BC haven't been any worse than any of the other governments there. In fact they've arguably been better.

Several economists endorsed the NDP's platform in the last federal election. The few who backed Stephen Harper's policies had a long history as supporters of neo-conservatism.

The neo-conservative movement has shown itself, for 25 years now, to be incapable of acting humanely and to be incapable of balancing a budget. The root of a lot of our problems grows out of the policies of Brian Mulroney. The same is true of the US and the policies of Reagan and the Bushes. Those same policies have devastated poor people not just domestically, but all over the world. What neo-conservatism (known as neo-liberalism in the rest of the world) does is to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. It erodes the middle class, drives both national and personal debt higher, and leads to environmental degradation and violent conflict.

Doubt any of that? Go look it up.

The NDP in BC are now down to 2 seats I believe "look that up for me"
And I lived here and was laid of because where I worked it being a small business closed due to the economy. He tried to rough it out but between the higher taxes and because nobody had money too spend due yes the GST and a major portion was the NDP.
Floyd Laughren who is a good friend of mines Brother stated they tried to shock the economy back into growth but it did not work and were too slow to see it.
THat is why in the last year they started cutting.Except welfare which just grew and grew and the number of people on it.Look it up.
The NDP are a protest party and yes the major reason is that we are beside the richest country in the world that is very right wing.If (GODFORBID THIS DARK DAY)THe NDP form a goverment the rich and thousands of jobs will head south. If the U.S was not there they would just keep going and move to mexico.
I also saw how Jack Layton and his buddies have spent hundreds of millions on the homeless in Toronto.HAs changed nothing but they have spent hundreds of millions.
The NDP want to change the world and yes it sounds wonderful. But that does not mean it works.
Canadians have too much free will too be that controlled and taxed in that fashion.Because in the end a goverment in Canada no matter what party cannot be trusted not to waste and give political appointments to their buddies.Or give casino contracts to a guy that builds a deck for the premier.
And his replacement in typical NDP fashion jumped ship and now a Liberal.
Feel free to look that up.

$1:
Or give casino contracts to a guy that builds a deck for the premier.

You forgot to mention that it was found that your former premier had done nothing wrong. It was basically a manufactured scandal and it had a lot to do with the results of your last election.

You also forgot to mention that the NDP have at pretty fair chance of winning the next election in BC, the the Liberals' (they are really neo-cons though) slash and burn policies have put a lot of people out of work, cut people's wages to the bone.

The popular vote also did not reflect the number of seats won. You never mentioned that.

You also haven't mentioned that there hasn't been a government in BC in recent memory that did not have scandals, and that Gordy Campbell and his neo-Liberals have had more than their share.

People are pissed off at your present government for privatisation schemes that have gone too far, not protecting people's personal information, questionable handling of the economy, and a plethora of other reasons. What's up with the skytrain? The Olympics (something about a highway, I believe), ferries again...selling the good ones to their buddies at less than market value, wasn't it?

Try again, Dan...the NDP have shown themselves to be at least as fiscally responsible as Liberal and Conservative governments time and again. As an added bonus they do a better job of looking after the people instead of their corporate masters. Sit down and look at the facts instead of listening to the crap spewed in the business-oriented media.

Australia would make a cool country to border Canada. I like Australians from my experience, and I also love their accents.

Ever wonder what the US would be like if the Confederate States had succeeded in seceding?

Rev...I have to say that I truly miss Manitoba. Seven or so years ago I made the biggest mistake of my life convincing my wife to move to Saskatchewan. I miss trees and lakes that are clear. You said that Saskatchewan is a 'have' province. The only reason it is is because of the high price of oil. It has absolutely nothing to do with what the NDP has done for this province. Along with being highly taxed this province is totally anti-new business. There are far too many tax burdens to make it possible for a small business to become profitable. If one does the government simply gets a crown corporation to go into direct competition with it or regulate it to death. The provincial smoking ban is a perfect example of this.

Manitoba is a great province and I truly miss it.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
I'm quite happy with having the yanks to our south. Besides the trade and standard of living benefits, we don't have to spend hardly any money on defence and the yanks will never invade us. Its a 'win-win' all the way for Canada.

Look at the English! They have the Scots to the north and the French to the south....oooerrr! I think I'd rather be in God's Dominion.

And the welsh to the West and also the Irish. The Germans aren't too far away. To us it's quite far, but by the distances involved in a huge country like Canada, which is bigger than the whole of Europe, Germany is very much next door to England.
