We done the world proud on 9/11, ignorance of the present inhabitant of the White House notwithstanding. Bottom line: who needs States validation for anything isn't worthy of calling themselves a Canadian.

We may well be screwed by this deal but even a crappy deal is better than none. Again, half the deal is BC so I'm very happy to let the one liberal I trust , BC Liberal Gordo Campbell to look out for BC's best interestis.
We can puff our chests and pat ourselves on the back but 80% of our trade is with the US and every other country in the world would kill to get our deal. Don't be stupid.

Since you're main purpose here is to bother people, I have no enthusiasm to argue with you. I'd be better off shouting at my dog.

DerbyX DerbyX:
Fucking bollocks.

The Libs responded admirably to the US during 9/11 and were spit in the eye for it.

All your BS about the Libs interested in nothing but doing things that kept them in power can be defeated easily.

They did the worst possible thing for a gov't wanting to stay in power and the best thing for all Canadians. They eliminated the deficit and paid down the debt. They could have easily kept the conservative tradition of 20+ billion dollar deficits and simply threw money at the provinces, military, healthcare, etc. They could have made everybody happy at the cost of handing down an unmanagable debt to us directly if not our children.

Not only did bush snub our entire country, the country that took in thousands of his stranded countrymen but he extended no gratitude to our very quick and solid response to his request for assistance in Afganistan.

Chretien & Martin, while not perfect gave Canada solid leadership far beyond what Harper will every be capable of.

Every Canadian voter already knows this or else when things turned rough they would have done to the Liberals what they did to the PC party back in '93.

Sorry for your luck but thats just how it is. Get over it.

I agree, it was a good post, and to tell you the truth, I agree with most of it. Just not this:

Chretien & Martin, while not perfect gave Canada solid leadership far beyond what Harper will every be capable of.
That is rediculous to say. You don't know what Harper will lead like. Unless you have a crystal ball. Harper so far has done ok. He has settled something that needed to be settled, probably not to the satisfaction of everyone, but he is taking a Laurier approach. He is trying to statisfy both sides, and trying to work things out. Obviously, there are people on both sides of the spectrum that will not work together. Frankly, for what I have seen Harper do so far, he is doing really well.

Thats the Canadian way. Trying to make everybody happy is something our gov't tries to do quite often. Its sad that the reality is the old adage "try to please everybody and you will please nobody" is true. More the pity.

Maybe if people like Hwacker and Cagey weren't such assholes, it would work a little better.

Spitting in the eyes of the Americans didn't work out too well for Chretien and CAnada so perhaps attempts at true negotiation and diplomacy will bear riper fruit? I believe it is well worth a try considering that 85% of our exports depends on good relations with the US.

Our resources are of little benefit to Canada sitting in the ground!
