In the eyes of someone from Britain, with 63,181,775 people packed into an area the same size as Michigan, EVERYWHERE in Canada is isolated.
It boggles the mind that Canada is the same size as the whole of Europe, but whereas Europe (3,930,000 sq mi) has 739 million people Canada (3,854,085 sq mi) has just 33 million.
What brought that home to me is reading that the Fraser River drainage alone is larger than all of Britain or England, forget which. Or that Vancouver Island is the size of Holland.
Yeah. The Fraser River drains an 85,000 sq mi area, an area the same size as Guyana. England is 50,346 sq mi.
Baffin Island is bigger than the island of Great Britain.
It's 1,424 miles from Vancouver to Winnipeg, but just 1,204 miles from Bolton, near Manchester, where I live, to Florence in Tuscany. So I have to travel a less distance to see this beautiful ancient city than Canadians do when they travel from Vancouver to visit family in Winnipeg.
