I love how it starts of with saying that the Canadian Natives have joined the us Native.... Interesting... Those who are just now having problems vs those who have ALWAYS had problems.
I have been on many of the reserves and reservations on booth sides and yes they are both doing badly, but I do see a lot of independent buisness starting here, whereas there are Federal Laws against most of that which the american Natives want to do. And unlike in the us, the indian wars found indians fleeing TO Canada... Yes its a issue here right now, but at least Canada is acknowledging it and trying to do someting about it. I know for a fact that it can not be said the same in the states. And don't tell me about casinos and government checks, most reserves don't get jack and the few that do have so many Fed hands in the bucket and so called 1/16 'my mom's mom is a cherokee"er's that it's a miracle that most have money for their schools
http://wcco.com/topstories/local_story_080164955.html
and the casino money usually goes to the investors and to pay back loans.
Most of the natives here still fish the old waters and hunt and do things the old ways. Theres no animals left, the waters poluted, and there are to many churchs and laws against Natives being Natives in america.

You know who really matters? The Iraqi people and the American people. If the Iraqi's want the Americans there and the Americans are willing to do it, then what does it matter what everyone else thinks?
If you don't want to help fine. Just mind your own business.
You know what? if I lived in a country that had been oppressed by an intractable dictator for generations and there was no hope for the future, I would want someone like the US to help my country out - for whatever reason given, as long as afterwards my family and I were free.
I think the Iraqis can count on being free when all is said and done.
Countries that sit around criticizing, not helping, and looking for every possible excuse not to do anything aren't much good in a situation like that.

Now will you be quiet? $1: Intractable dictator for generations? Didnt know people lived that long.
A father and son are two generations. If you include a grandparent then that is three generations. Sadamn was dictator for over thirty years. I think we can safely say that could be described as "generations"
What do you do at the UofSask? Janitor, I hope.
Have a great day!

Do you even know what Intractable means dumbass?
in·trac·ta·ble (n-trkt-bl)
adj.
1. Difficult to manage or govern; stubborn. See Synonyms at unruly.
2. Difficult to mold or manipulate: intractable materials.
3. Difficult to alleviate, remedy, or cure: intractable pain.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=intractable
You did not indicate anymore then 1! person in a generation. Your use of [quote] oppressed by an intractable dictator for generations[end quote] You said dictator not dictator[s] Not my fault you too stupid to clarify what the hell your babbling about. You seem to have the mentality of a friggan 2 yr old screaming for his mothers breast milk. At least I go to school, what do you do, pick up garbage as your day job while on your way for your welfare cheque? Have a nice day.

jadeofthenorth jadeofthenorth: WarHawkster WarHawkster: Yes. Our taxes are too high. I've told you several times that those high taxes pay for health care and education. If you don't like it, leave. If it were up to me, we'd pay higher taxes and the gov't would cover all of our health needs, braces, glasses, medication, etc. as well as all of our education (including post secondary).
You don't get this, do you? The government is not paying for these services, YOU ARE.
And what ends up happening is that the non-producing tax-eaters will be subsidized by the producing taxpayers.
There is an old saying that no country has ever taxed itself into prosperity.
Canada cannot tax itself into prosperity either. High taxes just encourage entrepreneurial Canadians to move to the USA where taxes are not quite so high.
And, at a certain point, an overtaxed country will collapse economically or culturally.
The USSR was a good example of a country with an effective tax rate of 100% that failed.
The United Kingdom once had a 95% tax rate that caused nothing more than a hemorrhage of capital and business to other shores.
Your utopian ideas are warm and fuzzy, but they don't work in the real world where people do not have to keep their wealth in Canada where people like you can have the government steal it on your behalf.

The USA would not abide a dictator ruling Canada after an invasion. We wouldn't even tolerate that in Mexico.
We'd be there for you if we were needed.

Well thanks for at least supplying me with an intelligent response instead of doging around my previous post.

This is your response to a simple and easy to understand sentence?
Oh I see, the University of Saskatchewan must be one of those correspondence schools where you don't have to attend classes but just pay $25 for your degree. Say no more.
(Psst, it behooves you to go to a school with a reputable english department...you can try out dictionary.com if you need to look that one up)
Have a good day and come again.

Yes, the fact that you didnt look it up because you didnt know what it meant shows you do not know proper word usage to portray your meaning. You also not refuting that also shows your lack of education and ineptitude for an intelligent response. Id love to trade childish insults with you but anyways..... back to the topic at hand.

There is a list of the countries with the highest standards of living
The Top 3 are:
1. Norway
2. Sweden
3. Canada
http://www.heritage.org/research/featur ... ?id=Norway
"Norway’s top income tax rate is 47.5 percent: a 28 percent standard tax rate plus a 19.5 percentage point surtax on incomes above NOK 872,000. The top corporate tax rate is 28 percent. Government expenditures as a share of GDP increased less in 2003 (0.7 percentage point to 48.4 percent) than they did in 2002 (2.5 percentage points). On net, Norway’s fiscal burden of government score is 0.2 point better this year."
http://www.heritage.org/research/featur ... ?id=Sweden
"Sweden’s income tax burden is one of the heaviest among the world’s industrialized economies: a 60 percent top income tax rate. The top corporate tax rate is 28 percent. In 2003, government expenditures as a share of GDP increased 0.6 percentage point to 59 percent, compared to a 1.4 percentage point increase in 2002. On net, Sweden’s fiscal burden of government score is 0.1 point better this year."
http://www.heritage.org/research/featur ... ?id=Canada
"Canada’s top income tax rate is 29 percent. Its top corporate tax rate is 22.1 percent, down from the 24.12 percent reported in the 2004 Index. Government expenditures as a share of GDP decreased less in 2003 (down 0.5 percentage point to 40.1 percent) than they did in the previous year (1.1 percentage point). On net, Canada’s fiscal burden of government score is 0.2 point better this year."
So there is your evidence. The two countries with higher standards of living than Canada BOTH pay more taxes that Canada. Health care and education are both imporntany factors in the standard of living. I don't expect Norway or Sweden to colapes anytime in the near future.
