If we have mutated to a "who's beer is best" rant Canada's beer pales in comparison to the good draft beer now available in Ontario, such as Stella Artois (Belgian brewed under licence) Heineken, Boddingtons, Caffreys and other popular imports. Molson and labaats suck in comparison. And Sleeman tastes like bad home brew.
There, I can be infantile too!

I used to be all about European beer. The darker the better. But now I just can't drink the dark stuff too often. I like my watery American beer. Micro-brews are becomming pretty popular here, and there are some good ones out there.

I actually don't mind any beer! Yank beer is fine at a push, Ozzy lagers always go down well.
I am well into Detente when it comes to beer. I have got well adjusted in over 60 countries and 98% of the beer was acceptable to not bad!
Yank beer is fine, god bless them all!

"Uboat, while travelling around Europe, you could *totally* tell the difference between the Canadian and the American tourists. The Americans stand out a LOT. It's hard to peg why, but something about their volume, tone, mannerisms... "
_________
This is one of the most persistent myths existing about Americans, i.e., that when they travel around the world they are rude, arrogant, and condescending to foreigners.
Canadians especially just cannot let go of this image they have been brainwashed into believing that Americans are crude, unsophisticated, brutes who pack revolvers and will shoot you as soon as look at you.
From the BBC:
"Britons have been labelled the world's worst holidaymakers in a survey of tourist boards around the globe.
Research by online travel service Expedia suggests Brits abroad are the least well-regarded by foreigners.
They are the rudest, meanest, worst-behaved, most linguistically incompetent and least adventurous holidaymakers, the study published on Friday claims.
But the Germans are generally welcomed and topped the poll of tourist offices in 17 countries worldwide.
Categories included behaviour, politeness, willingness to learn the language, trying local delicacies and spending on the local economy.
And overall, the British finished bottom of the league table of 24 nations, which was topped by the Germans, Americans and Japanese."
(YES that's right, TOPPED by the Americans)
"Americans were judged the most courteous and the British the rudest, alongside the Russians and Canadians. "
(YES that's right again, Americans were MOST courteous and Canadians were the RUDEST)
"Top tourists
1st Germans
2nd Americans
3rd Japanese
4th Italians
5th = French, Norwegians, Swedes "
(Canadians are tied for 24th place).
Some people will say, "Oh well, this study was conducted two years ago, what about now? Well, Americans haven't changed in two years, but many around the world have because of Iraq. I think because of the Iraq war many just can't possibly find it in themselves to say anything nice about Americans. Is that fair?
Other comments on the same site about Americans:
"I work in a tourist office and feel I am well qualified to judge. My least favourite tourists are South Africans, mainly because they always sound a bit severe and aggressive. I also don't like Londoners as they expect to get the same kind of amenities and standards of accommodation as they would in London. One more thing, Americans are always lovely and very enthusiastic. "
Tan, UK
"I worked my way through university in Montreal restaurants, which is probably the only time in my life I ever met tourists in such bulk as to observe anything approaching common national characteristics. I have to say that Americans were my favourites because they seemed the most interested in the city and they tipped like bandits. Almost as good were the Japanese - willing to be pleased and very organised customers. The most horrible were the French. They never wanted what was on the menu - something special the cook had to whip up right in the middle of the lunch rush was their usual demand."
Sheila, Czech Republic
"I think it is interesting that the characteristics which Brits enjoy attributing to American tourists (rude, arrogant, monolingual) are precisely the characteristics that other countries attribute to British tourists. Perhaps it is finally time to put old myths to rest and deal with realities. "
Jeff, Seattle, US
(COMMENT: or substitute Canadians for Brits in Jeff's comment)
And one of the few (out of 70 or so) to really dislike Americans, it is, Surprise! A Canadian.
"I'm surprised to see the British rated at the bottom of this list; I work at a museum in Toronto and without exception have found British visitors to Canada to be polite and incredibly appreciative of everything that is done for them. Americans, on the other hand, seem to think of the world as one huge shopping mall; their first question is usually "What's that in real money?", they throw money on the counter at you, and are interested in little but shopping when they travel. Give me the British over the Americans any day. "
Robert, Canada
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

The Brits are the worst on vacation. I steer well clear of them and their soccer shirts. What is with "England" plastered on every item of clothing?
I least you can spot them before they speak!

I've found that Canadians drive fast and often use a tone of pushy sarcasm...but when they get to work they drag their sorry butts like losers and complain when forced to work.
There is indeed a shortage of skilled people in Canada, since all with skills have headed south so not to surrender >50% of their hard earned income. Canada's only hope of ever having a presence in the world economy is to attract immigrants and attempt to instill national pride so they will not leave (like the rest). Too bad Canada is full of racists…this will complicate plans.
I also noticed Canadian news often puts a nasty spin on US news, in an attempt to make it look chaotic “south of the boarder”. Having lived many, many places, including Canada, I find this truly ironic. I found life in Canada to be more chaotic: totally unmotivated workforce, including government servants makes it tough to buy, sell, drive, go to the doctor, etc.

Hopper Hopper: True Fox News doesn't quite understand us....when I was living in NC, during the initial weeks of the U.S invasion of Iraq they called us "Pot smoking, gay loving pussies" for not becoming involved in an illegal war. My big question is, who really gives a rat's ass what they think of us? So we won't have any right wing, homophobic, gun toting, bible waving morons coming here for vacation. So? Roll up a fat one, hug your neighbour, give Fox the finger and smile as you watch Al Jazeera. the trailer park boys are pot smoking gay pussies!canadian television is like russian television!da comrade!
