Criminal record??? Jackass. Getting drunk on your 21st birthday and spending the night in the drunk tank. How serious is that?? I was not charged with a crime for the coffee pot, it was just a foot note on my record. That is what he was going to keep me out for, Jackass. In over 50 years before and since the drunk incident there are no other infractions on my record. That should say more about me than what is on my record. Your system is so F#*ked up that it is going to keep a generally honest and decent US citizen out but you let our cowards, draft dodgers and deserters in and then build monuments to them. That is real JACKASS, Jackass.
Come one now elk6x6, you were arrested in the US and it is obviously available to American and Canadian law enforcement. Criminal record or not, you were a grown up and got yourself in a bit of a pinch. It doesn't matter how long ago it was, you know that, and I am sure you taught your son the same.
The bottom line on your story is that you were arrested once in the US, the Canadian customs official discovered this when you came into their country (doing their jobs), gave you a hard time about it and then let you through.
I have hit some real characters at the border too, but it is dumb luck whether you get pushed a bit or get the "thankyou, drive through". You can't blame them for doing their jobs.
I find it ironic that you have posted this in the thread that is criticizing the Canadians for being too lax at their border.
You don't want to go to Lethbridge anyways, you want to go north of PrinceAlbert to drink beer and fish.
