"O Librada!
Our home and naive land!
True liberal love in all thy martin’s commands.
With shrinking wallets we see thee lies,
The True North feeble and taxed!
From far and wide,
O Librada, We real Canadians can only cry.
God keep our land Liberal and blind!
O Librada, We real Canadians can only cry.
O Librada, We real Canadians can only cry."

Although your little song is funny, your tone is ignorant. If tax is an issue, then why does one of the highest taxed countries in the world, has the highest standard of living. Yet still it's GDP (Growth Domestic Product) grows at a faster pace then good old United States of America who claims capititlism, free enterprise and low taxes is the way economic growth. More importantly they have the highest standard of living in the world.

That country is Norway. This country goes beyond what Canada gets attacked for by the right wing nuts. Yet there is no arguing they are doing something right. I've even had this conversation with a Conservative and even she couldn't disagree that they had a good system in place, however, she felt that it was to late for Canada to adopt it because we are so connected now to the capitilist, free enterprise United States.

Allot of Norway's wealth doesn't only come from their offshore revenue. By offering free education Norway creates allot of inventors. A smart public to them means economic growth to the country. Which is proving to work. Inventions are created and those inventions are wanted around the world.

Plus I would like to end by saying you have no idea what your talking about. You accuse the Liberal's of many things which do have merit, but these new liberal's are not much different then those conservatives I assume you support.

Mr. Martin was the finance minister for many years, and personal taxes have actually went down, and so did corporate taxes. We are not as heavily taxed as we once were. The conservatives are still complaining about 10 years ago tax rate. Which is funny because Conservatives usually are the ones encouraging to go back in time and living in the dark ages.

'real canadians can only cry'.

umm I don't think so. how can a real Canadian be defined by someone who agrees with American expansionism into Canada? Considering the people that dies in wars for this country.

Hrmm

Really now, I have 2 uncles in France pushing up flowers, and countless other family members that came back from 3 wars fighting for Canada. In the last 40 years this country has been loosing its place in the world. We use to be very patriotic and proud. Fast forward to today, now I think of Canada as the UN’s pot of slop. Everybody is a XXXXX Canadian not a Canadian with a heritage of XXXX. I hope we never have to count on some from this country as we did before, I think you’ll be surprised in the outcome.

At least with Americans you never have to worry about that.

I would like to see a poll done asking the question of whether Canadians would be open to adopting European models and the Euro, or adopting American models and U.S currency.

I'm confident that the poll would show a overwhelming majority still loyal to Europe. I believe we still share allot of the same beliefs and ideologies. Which is why we elected Liberal so often in our history. And why we elected a Progressive Conservative government, and why we won't elect a New Conservative Party. <---- My accurate assumption that is :P

Now I'm not saying we should adopt the Euro, but the results of the poll would prove to be interesting facts to know. Because if we are as a culture still very much European, then that would be in direct conflict with the U.S.

OR would it really be a conflict with the U.S majority or conflict with the minority who vote and elect the Republicans. Is there loyal Europeans still in the U.S as well? that's a good question.

According to T.R Reid in his book "United States of Europe" he explains how the European Union has overpowerd U.S companies wanting to merge. The European Union also forces American companies to change their regulations of their products in order to sell in the European market. Which I should add is a larger market then the U.S. So his conclusion is with the growing power that Europe is having over the U.S, we could see loyalist demanding European models like health care in the U.S.

One would think that with the Americanization of Canada, where American corporations are starting to influence our government decisions (More Integration), one could only imagine what sorts of affects the Europeanization of the U.S will do to them.

As our government moves to harmonize our regulations with the U.S, the U.S will be forced to harmonize their regulations to Europe in order to sell in that market. We just may see Canada and U.S regulations harmonizing with European regulations in the future. Which would not be a bad thing considering they have regulations that protect the public, much better then our regulations that use people as test rats.

Carpdiem I think the cold in Timmins has gotten it to your brain. Why would you want to adopt the Euro or the USD? You should keep the CND. Only a canadian would ask such a question. I heard a joke once ....Canada could have had the best of all worlds British culture, French cusine, And American tech. instead you chose British cusine French tech And American Culture....An this lie that you are more European please give me a break! Why cause you use the metric system? So does Asia. So does that make you more Asian also? Cause you elect liberal gov. What exactly have they done to make you more European? The last time i was in Europe I did not see strip malls and sub divisions where all the houses look the same. unless they put them up in the past month. I import Italian foods I go to Europe 5 to 6 times a year. Wjo would wanna be a fake European anyway? Its called euro trash

Carpdiem I think the cold in Timmins has gotten it to your brain.

Well I will ignore the sardonic humour. I was trying to have a civil discussion with you. Obviously a civil conversation is not what your looking for. I'm only open to a conversation if you want to talk about the topic.

You should keep the CND. Only a canadian would ask such a question.

I wasn't directly suggesting adopt the Euro in the way you imply. I cleary said "Now I'm not saying we should adopt the Euro".

So you disagree with the personal opinion of mine that we share many of the same values as Europeans. That's fine. Because I disagree with your opinion. So we agree to disagree. No biggy.

If you want to continue to hide behind your computer screen making rude remarks, and getting personal on the subject, instead of having a conversation that is focused on the topic not the person. Then this is my last post to you.

Take Care,

Kevin
