"If I can see farther it is only because I stand on the shoulders of giants" -Issac Newton

Such is true. We have gotten quite alot from other countries and past societies. As has all other countries. Go back to the other thread and figure out the real reason.

They are superior only by their numbers. Notice we still have the best universities. Notice we are still the leading competitor as regards science and technology. quit being a bigot. 300 million vs 1.2 billion and india being 1 billion.

I am glad some people still have respect for my country. As for being arrogant. No. I know very well that America is here today because of a great deal of countries. Britain, France, Canada, and many others.

sukhoi...I see that you have a great love for your country and I have nothing but respect for that. A love for one's country is something that very few citizens of this world can claim. However, yours is one country in this world. It isn't the only one. I am proud to be Canadian and I do not hate any American but I do not enjoy being the brunt of arrogant Americans thinking that they are the 'end all and be all' of the world.

I hope I never implied as much. My frustration was your caused by your statement that americans cant read. Well I took it as a statement(I apologized I shouldnt have). I have heard so many things here that were negative towards america. Alot were true, alot were not. I simply did my best to defend what I believed to be right(which is america is not #1 in everything but we do alot of good). I believe Canada is a great country. I am glad to have you all as our neighbors. I'll leave it at that.

PJB PJB:

The idea to go may have been German, as early as the 1940's.

The Saturn V was built with electronic systems that did not exist until the 1960's, and was monitored by a computer system on the ground, that, although today seems primative, didn't exist until they built it for the missions.

Saying the moon missions were actually German technology is like saying the television was invented by Jules Verne because he thought of it back in the 1800's.

Yer up past your bedtime, PJB.

I'm a long time member of an American forum and am constantly flamed and belittled because I'm a canuck.
Why do I stay there? Because the majority of yanks like canucks...let's not get into a pissing contest here.

PJB,

Alot of what you say is true. There are a great deal of arrogant Americans. I apologized If I caim off that way. Americans are no better then any other citizen of any other country. We are human beings. As Socrates once proclaimed "I am not a citizen of Athens, but a citizen of the world." Do know that my love for you as a human being far surpasses my love for my own country.

Many of the technologies for space flight such as yroscopes and control fins were developed by american Robert Goddard who from his test site in Arizona launched the first stable rockets in 1938.

And, while the USA (as with the USSR) did learn much about rocketeering from Germany who poured billions inot developing missiles, America's space program survived without the use of slave laboour.

Did they Steal ?

I wouldn't say completely steal but everything science , medicine , technologies , invention of the automobile , aircraft , etc etc etc was bought by the US and their is very little claim to fame by the US for anything . I'd have to look it up but I believe less than 4% of the worlds greatest minds and inventions are american

Maybe television was invented by Jules Verne. Maybe he planted the seed that eventually caused someone to build the first television.

and your point is ?

Wasn't it also the Canadians who built the lower half of the moon module so the thing could land on the moon in the first place?
